A worthwhile upgrade for bread machine loaves
I purchased this to experiment with improving the texture of homemade sandwich bread from my Zojirushi bread machine, and the results were impressive enough that it's become a permanent addition to my recipe. For my standard 2-pound white bread recipe, I added one tablespoon of vital wheat gluten along with a teaspoon of diastatic malt powder. The difference in the finished loaf was immediately noticeable. The bread had a softer, more uniform crumb, better structure, and a texture that was much closer to a quality store-bought sandwich loaf while still retaining the character of homemade bread. What I liked: * easy to incorporate into recipes * improved loaf structure * soft, consistent crumb * helped produce better sandwich bread * good value given the small amount needed per loaf The finished bread retained moisture well and sliced beautifully. What impressed me most was that it improved the texture without making the loaf feel overly processed or "industrial." It still tasted like fresh homemade bread, just a better version of it. I haven't tested the vital wheat gluten independently yet, so I can't say exactly how much of the improvement came from this ingredient versus the diastatic malt powder. What I can say is that the combination produced some of the best bread I've made in my machine. For now, this has earned a permanent spot in my bread-making supplies and will be part of my regular sandwich bread recipe going forward.

Helpful addition for baking bread
It's good quality gluten for boosting the rise of whole wheat bread. Taste/smell and texture as expected. Good container with lid. Good value for money. I buy larger size bags for my self, but this was a gift for a friend just starting on bread baking. Good starter size.

Easy to Use, Great Results!
This stuff is great! It turns all-purpose flour into bread flour, so doughs rise much taller, and breads are chewier than if weโd used AP flour alone. It is easy to use. The directions are clearly printed, and the wide-mouth jar makes scooping out the product easy. One note- measure on the scant side, because if you put more vital gluten than recommended into a recipe, the bread will be almost gummy, instead of nicely chewy. This is a pantry staple in our house now, because I make most of our breads.

Nice gluten
Good gluten for baking bread in my bread machine. I also found that I can use all purpose flour by adding 1tsp of gluten to each cup of regular flour instead of buying bread flour. I tried it and the bread turned out just fine.
