Hughes Autoformers PWD50 Power Watchdog Bluetooth Surge Protector - 50 Amp

Used mine for 4 years and had no issues enjoyed the Bluetooth monitoring, app worked well, liked being able to check parks power before hooking to rig. Then is paid for itself big time. Had a power outage and when power came back on it sent a surge and "Big Dog" (what I named mine) did its job and took the hit, no damage to RV. It blew its surge protection, and must have taken a big hit, prevented one leg of power coming to RV. I called customer service, and they were very helpful and said even though it blew the surge it shouldn't be preventing power to the RV, asked for pictures. I sent pictures and they replaced the unit. I now have Big Dog 2 watching over my rig. Highly recommend, you don't need it until you need it.

Your not going to find anything else out there like it especially at this price point! Others at this price are falsely advertised as surge protectors, or are twice the price. It will protect your investment and keep you safe, and that is important. I have had bad wiring before and it blew my TV, microwave, and some wiring before i realized what was going on and killed the power. This is cheap insurance. Some other reviews are complaining about the app and the bluetooth distance. Bluetooth doesn't go more than 20' for anything! Not sure why people think this would be any different. The app tells you what you need to see. I check it once when i plug it in to verify i got +/-120 v on each leg and then i turn it off and forget it. Great product.

This is the best continuous voltage monitor to protect your RV, It is easy to understand and protects your camper better than most I have seen or used

There are other surge protectors out there, but what I use this product for is the ability to monitor power usage. I haven't seen any other high-amp devices that can be plugged into the pedestal like this. Even if I didn't care about being able to read it from inside the trailer, I haven't seen more than a voltage read out on the other products. I used the 30 amp version for a year and was 100% happy. We upgraded to 50 amp power and so I got the 50 amp version. Everything seemed to be working except the 50 amp version wasn't keeping track off KWh. That was one of the important features for me. I saw here that one other person experienced this. I called the company and they put me in touch with a very nice engineer, David Z. He told me that I was only the second out of thousands sold to report this issue. The first person returned his, but it worked for David. After giving him the info on what phone and OS I was using we decided to do some testing. He offered me an immediate shipment of a new Power Watchdog if I thought it might be the device. It turns out that I had the issue on all of my iOS devices. David has an Android device. He got ahold of an iOS device and used it on one of his brand new Power Watchdogs and he had the same problem! I got myself a $20 Android phone just for taking readings, and sure enough I could read mine. No return necessary. David forwarded our findings to the software team and they are going to work on a fix. The software continues to read the 30 amp version correctly on iOS, so I hope this will be a quick fix. I want to reiterate that their customer service is impeccable and they will be receiving a fifth star from me as soon as this bug is worked out. EDIT: Updated to a fifth star, as the iOS app bug was fixed less than a week after I reported it!

Works really well and collects data over time without having to always be blue-tooth connected to your device. Been collecting data since Jan and working like a charm. There are two apps for similar devices and it wasn't clear until I did some internet searching to figure out why I couldn't connect. Figured it out after like an hour- would have been nice to have a better installation instruction (ie- add pictures instead of general instructions. As far as working. Five stars. Materials-pretty good. Install- Great other than the app confusion. Decent price (I would always prefer to pay less). But as a whole, solid product. App is easy to use and I love the usage tracking.

Been using it for two months. No issues. Does what it is supposed to do. Has protected my camper.

Needed to upgrade our camper. So happy with it and have not had a problem with it yet.

Perfect for use on a standby portable generator that doesn’t have wattage or amps meters. Updates once per second over Bluetooth so you can monitor your house load during a power failure. Most important, this provides amps per both 120v inputs so you can better balance loads and avoid generator from tripping both breakers off because only one side exceeded generator breaker rating. Also monitors voltage per each 120v side to also help you lower distortion by you balancing house loads across each 120v leg to reduce distortion and led flickering by managing voltages to be close to equal. A little pricey, but priceless in an outage to let you know how much stuff you can power up to the limit of your generator.

I putchased this surge protector because of the Bluetooth capability so I can see how much power I am using. Also for the electrical protection it provides. This has been an invaluable investment.

Easy to connect to with my phone and could figure out each appliance power draw as well as total power used. Awesome product
