My mom major had surgery on her hand. Of course they gave her only one of these for under her splint that she had to wear for many weeks. Being that they are white and she was already struggling to eat while unable to bend her fingers, it got messy quickly. It would be easier for her to dig her way to the center of the Earth with only her one useful hand than to get replacement ones from the doctor or therapist, so to Amazon I went because where else to you buy something like this when you dont have a nearby medical supply store? They were inexpensive and exactly what she needed. I did buy all white because she had fresh wounds and I was hesitant about giving her anything with dye, but now that the incision is healed, I will order black ones too because the white definitely show every stain. It was helpful to soak them in hot water with a dissolved denture tablet to clean and disinfect them. Theyre soft, stretchy, and reasonably durable. Also identical to the one they put on her during the surgery, except probably a fraction of what they charged insurance for that one! Lol

Highly recommend if wearing a full length arm and wrist brace. No raw areas from rubbing and I feel that it allowed "breathability" between the brace and skin. I had open wounds and these sleeves kept the bandages in place and prevented longer healing time. I used them every day for almost 6 weeks. When I was down graded to wrist brace only, I cut the excess length and again felt better protected than if I hadn't had these sleeves. I even have a few left for the "next time" or for whoever may need them.

I ordered these hand socks the day I got fitted for brace 2 weeks after thumb surgery. I was skeptical because of mixed reviews. They arrived in 2 days and that was a plus. I measured my wrist before ordering. This was helpful to me for getting te right size. My wrist was approximately 7", so I ordered the Small in White. When I opened the bag yesterday I surprised they were so soft. That is a feature for anyone that orders these to where under a brace with an incision still healing. The size was perfect with being not too tight or loose. Keep in mind that they do stretch for those, like me, that are experiencing some swelling post surgery. These hand socks will expand, so if you are on the higher end you may want to buy the next size up. After wearing until late afternoon, you can see in the picture, it wore well underneath my brace. I've been so satisfied the past 2 days, I just ordered a set of black ones. I'm not planning to cut mine. I think if I woul, they might fray or unravel.

Measure your hand before ordering. Originally ordered small but exchanged for medium. The hand socks are of good quality. They are a compression sock and make wearing a splint much more comfortable. The thumb portion was too long for my use, so I cut a portion off. The material's thickness is very good.

They are what they claim to be. They're not sturdy, but the stockinette material isn't intended to be. They're just a smooth layer to protect your skin from abrasion as you move around with a splint or cast on your arm. The problem I have with them is the stench. These are going to be in direct contact with a wounded area for days or weeks. They should not be soaked down with fabric softener, which could cause a rash all on its own. The odor is very strong, like someone directly sprayed them with a fabric softener solution. The packaging was a thick heat sealed bag, so it came from whoever packed them, not cross contamination from other items in the warehouse. They do not normally ship from the factory smelling like that.

For my rough-textured (and removable) spica brace, I needed something to prevent rubbing and skin irritation. These stockinettes work great for that purpose. I haven't needed moleskin since I started wearing the stockinettes. However, the seam on the thumb is right over the injured tendon in my thumb, and it rubbed painfully over my injury. I had to get the thumb-hole in my brace widened to alleviate the pressure. Also, the stockinettes unravel, which means strings can get caught in whatever you're trying to hold. I've washed the stockinettes in the clothes washer a couple of times using a lingerie bag, and they've survived so far. I think they'll last the four weeks I need to wear my brace, but I'll likely order another package if I have to wear my brace longer as the stockinettes are looking a little tattered and worn.

They fit OK and seem to do the job of protecting my wife’s hand from the brace over it. My wife is allergic to the material the brace is made with, so we had to have something. I have since ordered the Black ones though as the white ones were hard to clean without bleaching them.
