Yes, it's solid walnut. Like any real wood, each stand shows its own grain, so yours will look a little different from the photos.

Will it hold a double album?

Yes. The slot is just under an inch wide, so a gatefold or double LP slides right in, with room for the next record or two behind it.

Can I use it for CDs?

Yes, a CD case stands in the slot the same way, so it works on a desk or shelf where CDs get played.

Will it bend my record jackets?

No. The jacket rests in the slot and leans back on the wood; nothing clamps or squeezes it, so it comes out the way it went in.

Does it come ready to give?

Yes. It arrives in a Heather & Willow gift box, so you can hand it over as it is or wrap it first. The stand is the only thing inside, and there's nothing to assemble.
