I had doubts whether this cable would work with my video capture card, but alas I was proved wrong! Once I hooked up the VGA cable to the back of the tower and plugged the USB cable into the 3.0 jack on the back of the tower, then the HDMI cable into the HDMI input on the capture card and the USB of the capture card into the 3.0 jack on the laptop, it was smooth sailing from there and I saw the welcome screen from the tower in OBS. Great success and one I am keeping! Wonderfully made cables and great connections. Definitely served my purpose. Didn't use the audio cable as I had a mixer running through the tower anyway so that works just fine. Picture is a little small and sometimes lags, but that is ok with me for now. If you are looking to hook your 10 year old VGA computer to HDMI whether it's a TV, monitor, or a video capture card like me, the VGA to HDMI converter works well, just remember to plug the USB power cord into the back of the VGA computer and you're set to go! I am typing this on the VGA computer now. Thanks Onten for the great cable and Amazon for offering it. You guys are grand!

I used this adapter to convert the SVGA output from an Elecraft P3 panadapter display into HDMI input for an LG 32" monitor, and it seems to be working perfectly at 1920x1080. We shall see if it's reliable (I note a few other reviewers had reliability issues). Note that it does need 5V power from a USB connection to work - you won't see any video without it. My application doesn't use audio so I haven't tested that part of the device. My only gripe is with the micro-USB connector for the power - this kind of connector is known to be flaky and prone to failure and I'd rather see almost anything else.

Technically worked but my PC wouldn’t detect the TV I was trying to use. Could only run it at 800x600 resolution. Ended up having to go a different route. To be fair, this was under Ubuntu Linux not windows.

The VGA to HDMI converter will not work on my computer and monitor . The computer does not have a VGA connector. The monitor does not respond when the adapter to the monitor VGA port.

I purchased it to use as a display for security cameras. Sense the purchase back in February 27 2025 it was working well. We had a little thunder storm roll by and the lights flickered for a split second and the adapter stopped working. I tested the HDMI cable and was working fine. Turns out it’s the adapter.

So, I learned that when it comes to technology, new/old, you have to purchase specifically for what you are trying to accomplish. And this product did exactly that. I needed to go "from VGA to HDMI", bcuz I wanted to connect my old desktop tower to my new and bigger monitor. Not realizing it only had HDMI ports and no VGA or RCA ports, for that matters. This converter was so easy to install that I installed it, before realizing I had instructions. And displays, as if I wasn't on a newer TV/monitor, meaning, it displays gr8! It displays from top to bottom of my 32" monitor and black wall, tha sides, as my old desktop display settings are also old/outdated. And I'm still pleased with how it display, considering, it wouldn't be able to display at all, without this converter. And glad this converter didn't require a power source to work. Sound also comes thru clear and louder than it did before. Which is gr8 for me, being hearing impaired. Definitely worth what I paid for it and more. Highly recommend and will buy again, if I need another converter of this nature.

Instructions were not clear and readable. I had an older TV and a somewhat older laptop so clear instruction for the hookup would have nice to follow.
