This is the third or fourth time I've ordered this. I adore this company's quality essential oils, & use them almost exclusively & their specialty oils, such as their Chaulmoogra & their Kumkumadi oils, both of which I constantly find myself reaching for when formulating.Chaulmoogra is exceptional at acneic, eczematous, psoriatic, & uber-dry conditions. It has shown itself to be exemplary at treating active Herpes Simplex Virus, as either part of a compound or as a supportive therapy, in between applications of your actives, in its undiluted form, applied neat directly on lesions.I've found it to be equally useful for dry as for congested skin ailments. I really like using it with ostrich or emu oil to help its penetration. (One could also add it to isopropyl myristate for the same penetration without the animal oils).Its scent is very slightly fatty, but mostly really not noticeable. It is basically free of any scent at all. At room temperature of 68°F, it is a soft solid, so my recommendation is that, upon receipt, to put the whole bottle in a double boiler filled with simmering hot water until it has fully liquefied, which as long as its brief, won't harm it or destroy any valuable constituents. Then to pour it into a wide-mouth preferably dark or covered glass jar, with a phenolic thread-cap. Store in the refrigerator after recording the date of receipt on the label, (or the date of manufacture, which Deve Herbes is helpful enough to supply on the original label).Its texture is greasy & fatty & long-absorbing. It needs to be added to much dryer oils to temper its thick & oily consistency. I find it to be very good at around 1-10% of a formula, depending on the purpose. Added to a penetrant, as outlined above, along with your basic anti-oxidants, some mixed tocopherols at 1% or less, rosemary oleoresin extract at 0.05%, possibly ascorbyl palmitate &/or alpha lipoic acid at up to 1% for each, some moringa, or macadamia nut, or cyclomethicone, or meadowfoam seed oil(s) & that is either your entire anhydrous formula or the oil segment of an exquisite & effective emulsion, as long as your water fraction continues in the same vein for treating whatever affliction you are hoping to ease.
