Perfect for spices
I grind my own spices and have used a coffee grinder. Finally got one of these. Total game changer. It said to clean it the first time by putting rice in and grinding it. I did as said and when I opened it was shocked to see it was a fine powder! The swing over nut/bold things that hold it down don't line up "perfectly" but still holds it down just fine. The timer is a little old fashioned dial, but for the price I am happy.

Gets the job done. Not the best grain milling option though
I bought this specifically for milling grains for bread making. You can get a consistently, very fine flour if you grind for about a minute, sift (it comes with a sieve), and grind the coarser bits a second time. Don’t try to simply run the mill longer than 2 minutes. It gets hot, and the super fine flour settles at the bottom and starts to cook. No safety feature, so you have to remember to unplug when open the canister. Overall, if you’re eager to start milling your own grains and tight on cash, it’s a good product. It will give a nice fine flour for breads, muffins, etc. If you’re looking for something that will allow you to grind different sizes with consistency (like polenta or cracked wheat), this isn’t the product for you.
