Wilesco 10 steam engine D10, 155 ml boiler contents, including safety valve and whistle-pipe

We use this in school to teach energy changes and explain how a conventional fossil fuel power station works, The kids love it and so do the teachers. It was bought to replace the same model that is probably 20 + years old. I would certainly recommend it.

This is so much better than the tipping cylinder Mamod types it's unbelievable. Definitely justifies the higher initial cost Mine runs beautifully on half a Gelert hexamine tablet- a half piece is about 30*15*12 mm. As with other engines, half-filling the boiler and using boiling water and a suitable squeezy bottle or syringe speeds up starting. The clear boiler end is appreciated, the installation really looks nicely industrial, and actually might power a small Meccano static model. A happy Engineer!

I ordered the D10 product. I had one when I was young and had fun running it. The steam engine is just like I remembered. The engine Care must be taken with the plastic water tray that catches the condensed steam. I mounted it to a piece of ply wood, filled the tank and loaded fuel and it worked as expected. The delivery took over 1 month. When the product arrived there was a note inside explaining what happened and the reason for the delayed delivery. Apparently the original shipment was damaged along with the shipping label and was returned to the sender.

Very nice little machine

Die D10 war mein Notfall-Ersatz für Weihnachten, nachdem die gebraucht erworbene und schon etwas ältere D24e sich als überholungsbedürftig erwiesen hatte. Die D10 betreibt daher eine große Transmission, einen Stromgenerator mit Straßenlaterne und ein Karussel. Sie hat zwar kein manuelles Ventil und keinen Druckmesser und ist im Verhältnis zur D24 wirklich klein, gibt sich aber beim Betrieb keine Blöße und treibt tapfer alle angeschlossenen Geräte an. Highlight ist der qualmende Schornstein - der Dampf wird vom Kolben zurück zum Gehäuse geführt. Die Verarbeitung ist gut und liebevoll wie immer bei Wilesco und strahlende Augen beim Betrieb sind nahezu garantiert. Die Wilesco Dampfmaschinen sind - der Name sagt es - DAMPFmaschinen, was die Verwendung von Hitze unverzichtbar macht (Esbit oder Wilesco-Tabs als Brennmaterial, verdampfendes Wasser als Antrieb).
