I have been pretty happy with the products from PUREGEN labs and everyone could use more insulin sensitivity so I jumped at the chance to feed my body more myo-inositol. While you can get inositol through the diet, if that was enough to produce an excess then no one would be talking about this. We are talking about it because taking a supplement has effects over and above the dietary intake and that has benefits everywhere in the body. Inositol improves insulin sensitivity by making the insulin receptor more "sensitive". Allow me to explain: the insulin receptor has two parts, think of them as two doors that must be side by side to open. When they have well oiled hinges, the doors are more likely to open and require less force to open; inositol is that oil in the hinges. Inositol supplementation also reduces the amplitude of the changes in blood glucose following a meal and the amount of insulin needed for a given effect on blood glucose is reduced. It is as if the hinges became special hinges that were more ready to be open as soon as any force was experienced. So, it is totally worth taking an inositol supplement. There's more, inositol can affect your mood in a positive way. By reducing the amplitude of the glucose highs and lows, inositol makes you feel better, more stable, less anxious. Inositol also has effects on dopamine and serotonin function although the quantity necessary should not be attempted without consulting a physician. For individuals on lithium, a side effect of lithium is a reduction in the uptake of inositol in cells throughout the body and that has effects on insulin sensitivity among other things so it can provide a benefit to those individuals as well in terms of quality of life. Inositol has been shown to have positive effects for women suffering from polycystic ovary disease, however, being male, I cannot comment on the matter as a matter of my own experience, however, the literature is very positive regarding the use of inositol. Given how PCOS affects insulin sensitivity, the use as an effective adjunct to treatment is supportive of the use of inositol to enhance insulin sensitivity in general which can enhance the accretion of muscle mass. My own experience has been positive with a reduction in the variations in blood glucose from meal to meal so that I felt less anxious and in a better mood between meals as if inositol supplementation eliminated "Hangry". The capsules in PUREGEN's inositol are small and easily swallowed and they were full of powder (something that is a problem with other companies at times) and entirely devoid of smells or flavors. If you need inositol then PUREGEN's product is an excellent choice.

Easy to take. I feel less tired after taking it. I fall asleep more easily and sleep more soundly. I wake up feeling refreshed and energized. It has really improved my overall sleep quality.

Took this for a month straight and noticed no difference. I have found powdered versions help much more than tablets.

These capsules are slightly slimmer than other inositol capsules I've tried, which isn't saying much, but if you take a lot of pills/supplements daily, it can go a long way. There is no flavor or smell to them, which I really appreciate because I have sensory sensitivities and hate it when supplements have a pungent smell to them. I've been taking inositol for a while now, and this product in particular has definitely helped balance my hormones in addition to the birth control pill I am on. It's also helped with my menstrual irregularity. I'm on a hormonal birth control pill, and while that has helped me only so much, taking this in conjunction with the BC has helped balance everything out even more so. I definitely recommend it!
