Tartex vegetarian pâté is delicious!

Let’s face it, the manner in which “real” pate is made is quite cruel to the ducks. This pate, being vegetarian, allows you to enjoy pate with a clear conscience. I have never had “real” pate so I cannot tell you how the taste compares, but I think this tastes great and I have also used it successfully it in recipes (like Beef Wellington) that call for pate.

Excellent product memory from my childhood!! Wish all the flavors were available for purchase and more retailers would have them in stock. This one has the best flavor!! Delicious vegetarisn spread on toast with avocado or whatever on top!! Yummy!!!

This stuff is my new fave. Great on everything. Also it gets to the US pretty quickly. My only complaint is that this time the tubes were packaged loose in a bag, and the tubes are thin metal that are easy to puncture. There are no return/replace options so I'm out $10 but I'll probably still buy it again.

It's personal taste, for sure, but this yeast-based paste doesn't taste like yeast. A great option for those of us who can't do runny cheeses or pates, and a nice savory alternative to marg on toast.

The tubes are made of very thin metal - they were delivered in a thin plastic bag - the tubes were punctured and leaking oil and pate. I really love this product, but Amazon need to be mindful to use suitable packaging for easily damaged food products. Thankfully Amazon were quick to refund me the $27.45 that the 4 tubes cost me.

I had ordered 12 tartex's - four of which were mushroom. The mushroom ones were the only ones that I have received to date, and they are delicious. I am hoping to receive the others sometime soon?

This is a wonderful pate and the mushroom version is definitely my favourite. Obviously it's great on crackers or toast, but there's another way you can use it too. To make a luxuriously creamy mushroom sauce to mix through pasta, just squeeze a tube into a saucepan, add a little oat milk to thin it (depending on how thick you want your sauce), and heat while stirring for a few minutes. Its absolutely delicious on pasta and they'll think you created a mushroom sauce from scratch, if you don't admit what you actually did haha.

Our favourite vegan spread! Very difficult to find in our shops, so tend to buy this way. Lovely stuff.

Great pate but price is expensive. And I cannot find a better deal any where else.

In case of doubt: there are indeed 12 tubes in the box (200g per tube) so this is an incredibly good deal, particularly so because there is free delivery to an Amazon locker. I first purchased a month ago and noted that the price seemed to go up immediately afterwards, but it's down again to £11.32, so I was pleased about that (I'm not on Subscribe & Save). I'm sure this is the product I used to buy in the 80s from my local health food shop: it was available in tubes or in an individual "lunch pack" with a round pot of glossy pate and about 4 rough oatcakes. There was a little wooden spatula included. I am always looking for vegetarian/vegan alternatives which do not have too much garlic or "hot" spices, and this seems to be ideal. It's delicious on bread or on oakcakes. It has a slightly salty taste; some tasters may find it bland. Products containing yeast can sometimes cause thrush (candida), but although I tend to feast on this product when I've ordered it, I haven't had any problems. It was good that the packaging was sustainable (cardboard).
