Struggle to charge it
Great when it’s working but I struggle to charge this every time it needs it; and I’ve followed all online advice. I’ve had teo of these for a few years, but the charging issue is making me think about swapping

Very good…..IF you can make it work…
I bought two of these after having bought an indoor Canary View that worked fine, because I wanted coverage of my driveway and back garden. Small but robust devices that were reasonably easy to set up and install, I was initially quite happy with them. Then the trouble started…..the battery life is utterly terrible. No matter what you do. You can operate these wired to power but the point of having wireless cameras is so you can put them where you need them to be - not just within 3 metres of a power outlet. Mine are deployed where they need to be, both are within about 4-5 metres of my router and are set up for minimal detections to maximise battery life (I am often away during the week for work). These cameras take over 12 hours to charge - you’d assume battery life (especially on the settings I’ve used to minimise detections and prolong battery life) would be in the order of weeks. Yet both of my cameras last less than 24 hours. One of them requires completely removing from the app and re-installing every time the battery runs down, as a new camera. I have no idea why. I have had weeks of interaction with Canary Customer Support, tens of emails with multiple suggestions from them - which basically amount to making sure I’ve plugged the charging cable in properly and not much more. I actually suspect the support emails are being received and replied to by a Bot of some kind because they are largely nonsensical, repetitive, don’t track the thread of the conversation and do not help at all. I’ve done everything that canary support has asked me to do - including forcing the cameras onto the 2.4Ghz SSID of my router which they said would fix things, (I knew it wouldn’t but did it anyway) but that actually made things even worse. I am now going round in circles with their support emails and have had enough - I will be returning these cameras for a refund as they are simply not fit for purpose at all. It’s a shame because for the brief amount of time that they are up and running, their ability to detect motion and narrow it to people is great and the IR night vision mode is not bad at all

Easy-to-use app, simple set-up, great customer service
We love our cameras, they're reliable. They're very minimalistic and they blend in with their surrounding (camo-style). CANARY releases updates and bug fixes to the app regularly.

Not a secutity system. Will not detect location of the users.
The system will not detect users location. System can not be trusted as a security system. Canary system is not reliable. About 20% of the time the system will not detect if users are in the house or out of the radius geofence location. Very frustrating, required lot of time to play with the app and locations in order to find users location and work properly. Nice toy. Not reliable.

Started with only one, now we have three
UPDATED REVIEW: As many others have pointed out, Canary did an update in their terms of service a couple of months ago charging more for their service and cutting back on benefits that were previously free. We do not pay for the service. Since then connectivity has been terrible. We have the camera that overlooks the living room area hardwired, with the two other cameras set up for wireless. Frequently when I am at work and go to check the cameras to check on our pets, the cameras just load and load and time out before the feed pops up. I wish I would have purchased different cameras for our house now. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was slightly apprehensive about purchasing the Canary Flex due to the initial price and some of the reviews on Amazon. I decided to just buy one in April 2017 to use as a nanny cam and do a "test run" during the return period, before investing in several. We had the camera set up completely wire-free and had no major connectivity issues. The camera was pretty straightforward to set up after you download the app and I think there was maybe only one time where I went to check the camera from work and it showed "offline" (I was checking the camera constantly during this little trial run period). Now 3 months later, we are running 3 (living room, kitchen, baby's room) and all are set up wirelessly (we do not leave them plugged in/constantly charging). We are using the google wifi system in our house and all 3 cameras have no connectivity issues on our wifi system. I have them set up on the lowest sensitivity setting and they last about 2-3 weeks between charges. The included USB cords are long enough that I can leave the cameras in place (all are mounted near the ceiling), attach the cord, and run the cord all the way down the wall to a plug. They do take about a day to charge. As many others have mentioned, there is a couple of seconds of delay when you view the camera feed. Also, just as you would expect with any wireless feed, if I'm watching a live stream of my toddler in his room, it does freeze for a second here or there but nothing major. I would recommend these cameras to anyone who is looking for the convenience of a completely wire-free setup.
