Home Edition (The Merck Manual of Medical Information) Paperback – 5 July 2004

This is one of the best medical manual's you can have in the home bar none; its comprehensive list of aliments and the solutions to solving them would be what you hear at a GP's and the advice it offers is practical and easy to follow. Just one tiny thing about this particular edition - pay attention to the dimensions of the product as it is the "pocket edition" of the home manual - that said everything is still there and I found it easy to read, and not as heavy as its full sized companion. Well worth the money.

I'm a public health researcher but my background is in mental health so I needed a reference book to understand some of the new areas I'm working in. The Merck Manual is a really useful resource, written in plain English and comprehensive. If you're looking for a desktop reference on medical conditions, this is it.

My sister recommended this to me, saying it was the best home health book ever. Well, it's OK in a sort of 1980s way but has been superseded by the Internet.
