Beautiful!
Got this for my sons friends birthday and he loved it!!! He plays guitar so it being a vinyl record was a cool touch. Super bright and looks like melted gold!

Excellent lava lamp!
Lamp arrived in perfect condition. Liquid is perfectly clear (orange in this case) not cloudy at all. No dents in the base. I saw several negative reviews before purchase. Please understand what you are buying when you purchase a Lava lamp. They look really cool, but they take HOURS to heat up enough for the wax to flow. It uses a small 25 watt bulb to heat the liquid inside. The lamp itself gets hot. If you follow the directions inside, you have a good quality cool looking lamp.

The lamp never lavaโd- so disappointing! Tried everything, Amazon AI told me to send back day 2!
Looks like the old school lava lamp and the vinyl grooves were really cool but instead of metal like the old school bases these are just plastic. Iโm not sure if thatโs the issue or if itโs being shaken during delivery even though they are packaged pretty well. I thought this color option would be neat, it looked nasty. Compared to the old school lava lamps they are also overall smaller (we have one from the 90โs that still works). The main problem was it never worked. The wax stayed in a big clump at the bottom and then another clump at the top. It says donโt leave on longer than 8 hours and it never did anything in that time. I asked the Amazon AI for troubleshooting and it said it was a known issue and I should send it back. That was day 2. It finally mentioned that some people had luck cycling it, like 3 hours on, 2 off, repeat. I did that for days and it burped a few bubbles but ultimately never did anything. Turned on the one we had from the โ90โs and it started within minutes. I wonder if the plastic outer canโt get hot enough to conduct heat and warm the wax or if it was just faulty wax or delivery or all of the above. I recommend buying one in store if possible to save yourself $40 and return hassle.

Many colors, clouds and bulbs!
I am reviewing this as if it is all colors of lava lamps. The reason for this is that I have purchased 6 or 7 of these over the last 20 years. I will get to that portion of the review after this paragraph...but first..... ....I received this particular lamp last week and it is the first lamp of the 6 or 7 I've purchased over the years (since the early 2000s) that came without cloudy liquid! It works perfectly and it looks beautiful. The one thing I will say is that the orange liquid really is not orange. It's yellow. No biggie, I like the black vinyl inspired base and cap as I am a vinyl collector. Now onto the rest of the review. I am giving Lava Lamps as a whole 2 stars. Here is why: The vast majority of these lamps come cloudy. I haven't had issues with the light bulbs not working properly or arriving broken. I can only assume how annoying that is, but probably an easy fix just swapping out the bulb...still though, not something you should have to do when you're paying 30+ bucks for these. And I don't know what they did to the formula when they shipped manufacturing overseas, but when I was younger I had one that was manufactured here in the States and I had a few friends with them. You could also go to Spencer's Gifts and see these things all fired up over there...there were zero cloudy lamps. All of them worked perfectly unless you had somebody shake them up. That being said....Thankfully there are people out there that have found solutions to these clouds...there are ways to fix the lamps. So instead of many multiple returns/exchanges, as a DIYer I just fix the problem, but would rather not have had to go this route. So buyers beware! It is going to be hit or miss when you purchase one of these. You might get a good one....you probably won't. Maybe I'm wrong, but unless you like cloudy lava lamps, you're probably going to be disappointed. And with all the reviews I'm seeing from people that had to deal with broken bulbs...maybe have some extras on hand just to be safe(?)...though like I said, I've never had those issues.

Cloudy fluid. Needed modification to work right
I really like the vibe of this lamp, as I'm an avid collector of vinyl records and this lamp was a great addition to my listening area with the vinyl record groove base. But it too some work to get it there. I noticed two things in the first week. One, I noted that I only ever saw two very slow moving, generally equal sized blobs of wax at any given time, even at full operating temperature (see first picture). It appeared the lava wasn't very active in my lamp. And two, like many other reviewers, mine came a bit cloudy (see third picture). Not as bad as some of the reviewers that couldn't see their hand through to the other side but it certainly wasn't clear anymore. I ran it everyday for several hours for about a week and it hadn't cleared. So I resorted to cracking open the bottle and filtering the fluid using the survival straw method mentioned in many online forums and it cleared the murkiness up in one pass. It is now crystal clear and looks so much better (see fourth picture) There is more contrast between the wax and the fluid so it's visually more interesting. As for the inactivity of the wax, I ended up replacing the cheap round 25 watt bulb that came with it with a nicer, tulip shaped 25 watt bulb with reflective coating on the back of the bulb to direct more light and heat up toward the bottle. This made it a bit too active so I had to buy a dimmer switch to control the bulb output. Now, finally after weeks of modifying and experimenting, I got my lamp to run the way it should've run out of the box. Cloudy lava lamps is something that seems to be very common with this brand and it doesn't appear that the company is interested in resolving it. I'm hoping Mathos figures out a way to sell their lava lamps in America this year because this company has gotten really cheap. Consumers shouldn't have to modify their lamp to get it to look and work the way it supposed to straight out of the box. Lava needs to do better.

Loves lava lamps
I have the review 4 stars due to upon receiving the lamp the base was bent on the back which messed with it performing correctly. I tried to get my husband to return it, but him being the handy man that he is he ended up bending it back to it normal shape and the lamp worked the way it was intended to work.

Vale la pena
Es importante entender que el lรญquido no es transparente, no es que estรฉ defectuosa (cloudy). Es la original, tamaรฑo excelente, la luz es hermosa en un cuarto apagado, muy complacida.

It takes a while to start, but itโs worth the wait.
I purchased a used item (either a return or an open box) because it was cheaper and works perfectly without any damage or scratches. The bulb socket screw was tight, so I was worried it might break the bulb, but it held up just fine. It takes a couple of hours to warm up and work properly (As per the instructions.). I was also concerned about the yellow colour, but it looks great. I like it !

Great buy
Lamp is gorgeous. The liquid is clear and the wax flows beautifully when warmed up. No imperfections on the grooved base. Was worried about quality before purchase but it wasn't warranted. The glass bottle has a groove towards the bottom (hidden), which I suspect has 2 purposes: to keep coil from moving up, and to keep the wax from shaking during shipment.
