Quality not good

First off, let me state that I really liked this watch. It had most of things I look for in a chronograph and the silver dial is very handsome. Now for the bad news. One year after I bought the watch, the battery died. No problem, right? Except I cannot get the case back off. It has a 40mm Oyster style case back and I can't find anything bigger than 36mm. The adjustable wrench I have won't grip it and the ball opener won't turn it either. So it sits, pretty, but useless.

This is a very nice-looking watch and carries the appearance of almost a tourbillon, which I've loved always and at this price would have been a total steal if it were. But sadly, the watch face is so monotone in gleaming stainless steel that it is difficult to quickly glance and determine the time of day. The leather band is very nice quality and looks great as does the watch (looks great). But the good looks aren't the main purpose of a watch. Just not really liking this watch very much despite wanting to do so.

I love watches and have about eight different ones I wear on regular rotation; I even have two other chronographs already (a timex and a stuhrling). This is in the same price class as the others, so I expected much of the same, but with a distinctive look that caught my eye in the product photos. When I unboxed the watch, I was delighted to see the actual product was even more beautiful in person than in the photos. I think it has something to do with the thick, lens-like crystal - it makes the details of the surface and mechanism really pop (see photo), as well as the high quality leather strap. The chronograph works perfectly, and it's nice that it's a full hour (my other two are half an hour). The knob on the upper left, which rotates the inner bezel, is cool and fun to fidget with, but I haven't found a real use for it, since the printing on that bezel is so small it feels more decorative than functional. But ultimately, that's the point of this watch - its beauty much more than its function - and if you're looking for a beautiful, classy watch, you won't go wrong with this lovely timepiece.
