The instructions say to put a cotton pad over the metal part. Is thst just when doing the eye area or every time I use it?

I have no clue, and the only thing I remember about a cloth was when cleaning it. You shouldn't use it around or near your eyes (especially with any of the light therapy's)...and if you use the goggles supplied with this machine...you can't get close to your eyes anyway. I'm sorry I can't help you other than to say the serum you use goes directly on the metal before use, and should never be used without it.
