Sensational Monitor For Gaming and Movie Watching
I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. This was an upgrade from a Vizio 22' t.v. I had laying around which I initially was using as an "in between" monitor after my old one died. I ended up using the Vizio until I found something I felt comfortable dropping money on. After researching, I went with this model. -Set up: Out of the box, there were no dead or stuck pixels, which is what I would expect. It comes with everything you would ever need to hook up your monitor, except of course and HDMI cable. To some, this is an issue, but as I was using one for my old monitor it didn't affect me, just something to be aware of. You can find several cheap HDMI cables on Amazon if you don't have any extra. Once hooked up, I plugged my HDMI cable in and it fired right up. At first, there was a black border around the outside, but once Windows (8) installed everything and restarted it had basically set itself up. The brightness was the only thing I really had to change as it was a little too bright on 100 (default). Very minor issue and easy to fix. -Performance: 0 ghosting, Immediately tried it out watching some of my BluRay Bond movies and the picture was crispy and clear. I will do some more adjusting down the road I'm sure, but I was very impressed out of the box. I use my computer mostly for movie watching and gaming, and this monitor meets my high expectations. Beautiful picture. -Hardware: Many have talked about the base being a little wobbly, I put it on initially just for review purposes and it certainly could be sturdier, but it's not really an issue if you aren't knocking your desk around. Besides, for the size, this monitor is super light so any movement is minimal. Having said that, the base is a non-issue for me because I bought a Mount It! articulating stand for it, which you can read my review for. Removing the base and the part that fits into it were simple, and VESA mounting it was a breeze. The back is flat, which simplifies things as well. As a monitor used mostly for gaming and movie watching, this Asus is tough to beat, especially for the price. If you use your computer similarly, you will be as pleased as I am. I would highly recommend this monitor.

Great quality, crisp resolution, stable and excellent performance. Excellent for those with eye probelms as well as gamers.
Great monitor, I bought this as a second monitor, now I have two of these. Sure there are downsides as other reviewers have stated, but given the price and quality and fast response time this is highly recommended, better than many others. Moreover I didn't know about the problems until I read the reviews, like the colors at odd viewing angles, but still that's just being picky because the colors are great. Formerly I have had samsung monitors and they were nothing but trouble. After a year of having this monitor, I bought this second one, so that should tell you something. My eyes have issues if I don't have a high quality monitor, they get a lot of eye strain causing my eyes to turn red, but with these monitors my eyes don't have that problem so I highly recommend this monitor, especially to anyone with eye problems. I bought the 1ms monitor not for gaming but because I have to be careful about my eyes because I spend most of the day looking at the computer screen. These monitors have helped my eyes to heal but when I was looking at another screen at work the problem came back but with these monitors the problem went away. These monitors are overall a very high quality, and the sound is good. There is no backlight bleed, and the colors are rich and generally accurate, even for a graphic designer. I have used them for games as well and they perform very well. I like that they have many inputs. The only thing to be desired is a remote control. I do with they had a remote. However, in my opinion these are the best monitors for the price in the entire computer monitor industry. Regarding the specific one I received, very well packaged, great quality, I bought it used and it is about 3mm lopsided but you can hardly notice. I put a folded piece of paper underneath on side of the base and that helps to even it out. Other than that it functions 100% perfectly and the minor defect causing it to be lopsided was worth the price savings by buying used. YMMV.

Another Great ASUS Product!
I've read a number of reviews which complained of this unit's instability on its' stand and I have to wonder what those folks were doing to the poor thing, because it's quite stable for me and I have no problems with it at all. (What *DO* you folks do to your poor monitors?) I'm quite content with the actual performance of the monitor as well, and even people with older PCs can use a monitor like this, as the unit has HDMI, DP, and VGA inputs available, as well as inputs for external audio devices like an MP3 player. It's got two 2-watt speakers which are serviceable, but you can also use headphones (3.5mm jack) with it, too. Whether you're gaming (it's quite good for that), watching a DVD / movie file, or even just reading e-books, you'll find this monitor to be more than adequate to the purpose and priced very amicably when one considers all the features and controls it has, which are numerous indeed, yet easily accessible and easy to use. I do quite a bit of video editing as well as professional audio editing in my studio, and this unit is just perfect for what I do; I use professional audio monitors for mixing sound, and this unit is thin enough and just the right size to let me push it back far enough that I do not have audio reflection problems from the monitor sides (Google 'listening triangle' for more info on how that works). For video editing, the resolution is ideal and makes for crisp, clean results. Of course, your mileage will vary, depending on your video processor (hopefully you don't have crappy onboard graphics). Packaging includes a 3.5mm stereo male - to - male cable, a DVI - HDMI cable, and a standard VGA cable, as well as the typical IEC power cord. Manuals and a setup guide are also included.

Great Monitor
Great monitor. Not a bad price. Was hoping for a bit more of a discount for the holidays since the 24" version is $90 less and it isn't that hard to make a larger sized 1080p monitor. I really wanted to get a 2560x1440 but the price wasn't nice enough. This monitor is 1920x1080. I wont fault the monitor for its resolution as I can comfortable view 2 full sized webpage browsers side by side at 90% and see them both plus I have my taskbar on the right side. I view everything in 100% by default and I like the flexibility this monitor provides when I am working on some graphics art. I think I might be able to do 100% without my taskbar on the left your experience may vary. Setup was a bitch, the buttons for making the monitor adjustments are not well located. Not to say they are poorly located but when you hit them it wiggles the monitor. Saying the LED backlight is bright is an understatement. The LED backlight is incredibly intense, at 100% I could wear a pair of sunglasses under a welders mask and still read this monitor if the sun suddenly went supernova. I am sure this is future proofing as LEDs dim over their life but still that isn't expected during the lifetime of this monitor. Dark registers good but not great. Contrast is tricky to configure, too much and everything is too dark, too little and everything looks washed out. I upgraded from a 19" CRT 1600x1200 beast and I guess my mind's image of what a good picture is might be slightly skewed. After about 20 minutes monkeying around with it and 3 or 4 adjustments during different types of computing I got it in what I consider a sweet spot. I was concerned that I might experience the ghosting when scrolling. There is no ghosting or anything motion is very sharp and crisp. You can make out individual pixels from about 6 inches away. But I sit about 2 feet away from this monitor. Even at 18 inches it would be difficult to see the whole screen at once. Still not as sharp as I would expect on a 2560x1440 monitor but it is very crisp and I don't fault it at all. I received this monitor 2 days after I ordered it and close to Xmas undamaged. Thank you Asus, Amazon, and UPS for prompt delivery. For the money it feels like a good value and overall I thought it was a great buy. Not the best piece of equipment I ever got but by far the best monitor I've ever had. Have not received the rebate. Don't expect to. Cost them a star. Here is a good youtube video of wht it is like unboxing it, not mine, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sQWFqiHVIs Not as good but shows the back and the ports quite well. Was the video I watched before purchase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxarC5rpzSI

Adjust your monitor!
I'm going to give a review with the following expectations: 1. You understand that ALL (ALL) monitors need to be adjusted out of the box. Period. No amount of money is going to get you otherwise. 2. One person's settings won't match the next persons! Shocking reality- your eyes are not the same as others!! *GASPS* 3. This monitor is designed for fast movement Ok, now that we have gotten all of that out of the way, lets look at this monitor, shall we? Once you get your picture adjusted, the picture is fabulous!! Even the text is razor sharp! Make sure you calibrate it! I read a review on here, and subsequently lit the reviewer up, complaining that he spent so much money and all he wanted to do was programming... yeah... If you read long enough, you'll come across it... knucklehead, but I digress. Fast moving video is awesome on this, and crystal clear. Photos look fantastic, although I don't use it for that very often. Connections include HDMI and Displaylink- neither one are arguably better than the other. I've used an xbox360 on it, my pc, and as an extended desktop for my macbook pro. No issues. Just fabulous, clear picture. I have it mounted on my wall on an Ergotron Arm. Contrast is awesome, and sometimes I have to turn the brightness down just because it is so dark versus the white, but that's a good thing. Overall, great monitor. No issues or complaints. Works the way it was advertised.

Awesome screen for the money
Excellent monitor. image is awesome; big with great contrast and color. mine required no calibration out of the box. response time is very nice and i experience no ghosting or tearing on the games i play. i also like the fact that the buttons on monitor are REAL buttons that make a satisfying 'click' when you press them; none of that 'touch' button BS that so many new monitors have now. multiple hdmi inputs is a nice touch, as is the addition of a display port and a vga port for legacy support. built in speakers are what you expect and i don't really recommend using them unless you're in a pinch; really its nice that they even included them at all, just don't expect them to equal even modestly price external speakers. the 1080 resolution is adequate, 1440 would be nicer, but to get a 1ms 27" 1440 screen you can expect to pay nearly double the cost of this screen. So for my purposes, with my hardware and budget, this monitor is perfect. bezel is kind of wide compared to a lot of other IPS screens but those all have inferior response speeds. the stand isn't as solid as it could be, but i figure the addition of VESA mounts offsets this. in summary i'm totally happy with this screen.

Favorite monitor
I've only owned a couple monitors in my life, none of them over 23 inches. This baby was cheap, and for 27 inches, that sounded huge when i ordered it! And it is huge. Being used to my puny 17 inch laptop screen for the last year or so this thing is a giant. It is bright, colorful, and ultra responsive, just as advertised. I used other reviewers specs for the screen settings until I found the right combination for me, and the colors and gamma, etc, all come out perfect, the customization is quick and painless. Toying around I found my settings in < 5 minutes. Until I build my desktop completely I use this as a monitor for my laptop, and it works flawlessly, hdmi hookup and boom big picture. Loving every minute of it. Great for gaming, high intensity particles and rapid splashes of colors don't phase this baby!

It's big and bright, and decent price
Have to say I just wanted a monitor that could handle a source from my PS3, and my PC with low input lag, and screen blurring. I was looking at few models pricier than this, and I maybe should have went with one of those. * First off, the off angle viewing is far worse than my previous Dell monitor. The screen darkens off angle. * The blurring is tolerable, and has Trace adjust that's seems to be uselss. * Contrast and Brightness adjustment is a pain to calibrate * separate color controls for calibration are nice. * No dead pixels out of the box!! * Light weight, many connections!! * You can only calibrate it to one source....... lame,, meaning, if you switch HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, they use the same picture settings. This is a bit of a downer for me because of the use of multiple sources. * PS3's menu to turn system off, or to quit a game does not show. Must be a HDMI handshake issue. All in all for the price it is a decent monitor. You sacrifice adjustments in the stand, and a few other features, but of course, it's only typically for what you are willing to pay for. +++++++++++++++ Updated 7/25/2013 Returned the unit, my unit didn't handshake with the PS3 via HDMI when I needed to access the menu via the holding the menu button on controller. All I would get is a black screen. I purchased instead, the LG 27EA63V-P. Monitor is hands down better than this Asus, and it was only 20 bucks more...well, on sale. The LG has virtually no motion blur, colors are better, and better settings. Unfortunately, I gave up my DisplayPort, and the 2nd HDMI port.

excellent 1ms monitor, great value. thin and light. very pleased.
i was looking for dual monitors for a home office. i was searching for 22-24" monitors at first, and was hoping to find one with variety of inputs and at least 2ms refresh so i could use them for gaming one day as well. at the time a decent 24" with some of what i was looking for was $180, while these were $25 more but had everything i wanted plus speakers and were 27", easily worth the $$. i really like that these take all the inputs, even display port. if i had to complain, i would say that the bezel on these is kind of wide for a modern monitor at about 1", but i have mine mounted on adjustable stand arms, so the larger bezel makes it easier to position the monitors without getting my prints all over the screen.

Great buget gaming monitor
Sent my Curved Samsung back and bought this for gaming.. the black light take some tweeking but great monitor.. colours are great and not so bright and cartoonie. Bright and colourful when it and sharp, No issues with games. The Stand and the frame seem dated , not framless and the stand is nothing special. It is what it says it is. Very easy on the eyes.

Muli-Display Problems
Normally very happy with Asus products but this is an exception. The picture quality is ok, to be expected from a budget monitor. However my biggest issue with this monitor is it behaves oddly when used with a secondary display. I have an Onkyo receiver connected to my PC in addition to this monitor to broadcast to my projector. When I access task manager or login screen however the primary display goes completely blank and I need to turn the projector on to view what's on-screen. My previous ASUS MX279H monitor never experienced this problem with the same connections. In general if you're looking for a cheap monitor and are not using a secondary display then go ahead with this purchase. If however you are using a secondary display I would shy away from this particular model.
