No. The Facet ships pre-formatted in exFAT and works with Windows, macOS, PlayStation, Xbox, and Smart TVs out of the box. Reformat to NTFS for Windows-only, APFS for Mac-only, or FAT32 for older devices. Reformatting erases all data on the drive.

Can I connect the Facet directly to my phone?

Yes. USB-C phones connect directly using the included USB-C to USB-C cable. Older USB-A or micro-USB phones need a separate OTG adapter (not included). If your phone shows "charging only," switch it to File Transfer/MTP mode.

What if the cable or port doesn't fit properly?

Each Facet is inspected before shipping. If the USB-C port or cable doesn't align or connect smoothly on arrival, this is a defect — contact support for a free replacement, not a workaround.
