Tastes Great, Looks Beautiful, and is Packed with Amazing Health Benefits
I had no idea what to expect from this Spirulina product, but I have heard so many positive reasons for using this as a supplement. Also, I have seen spirulina in a million recipes online that I have wanted to try. I am not disappointed. The smell is off-putting, but once you use this product you will love the taste and results. I use this so far strictly in my smoothie and smoothie bowls in the morning. The green color gives my smoothies amazing color, including in my banana pineapple smoothies a sea foam green color. The health benefits I could list, but they are in the product description on this page, but I will say I feel amazing eating this in my smoothies. The taste is not overly strong, but the taste is distinct and I like the flavor. I do not use the full TBSP however for my smoothie, so beware the more you use the stronger the flavor will be. I enjoy feeling great and the flavor. The pricing from Bulksupplements is very reasonable also. My only complaint is the resealable bag the spirulina comes in does not reseal. The zipper lock does not work. Otherwise I will be ordering this from them again and trying other products from them. This company has been quick, high quality and great to deal with.

Good product, well sealed packing.
This is my first time use of Spirulina Powder. Was afraid about the taste as many folks have reviewed spirulina powder as nasty tasting. But I was happy with the taste on this product. I add it to my green drink. You can taste the product in your drink but it does not taste nasty. It is alright to me. I will continue using this product. Couple of concerns that I have is that although the product claims to be organic, there is no approved organization stamp on the product label. Another question I had was the serving size. The product label calls for 2500mg and that the US standard for 1tsp as 2499gms; and the nutirtional fact on bulk supplements website calls for 9000mg and that the US standard for 1 tsp is 3007mgs. Not sure why there is a discrepancy between the two labels, one calling for a teaspoon a day as dosage and the other calling for 1 tablespoon a day as daily dosage, that is threefold. But on the overall the product is good, comes in tightly sealed high quality foil package.

The planet's most nutritious food if you can stand the taste!
I read where this Spirulina powder is good for me so I ordered some. My mom always told me when she'd force a teaspoon of cod liver oil down my throat as a kid, "Things that are good for you taste bad." If this is true, Spirulina powder must the the best supplement on the planet because it tastes like crap! I haven't found any food that tastes strong enough to mask its flavor but I plan to try some in spicy chili tonight. My wife makes me a smoothie in the mornings with a tablespoon of this stuff in it and the only thing that keeps me from gagging is thinking of how healthy it will make me. Bulk Supplements sent me an email with a generous but confusing offer. They wrote that if I would review one of their products they would send me a package of it! Then I read the rules and was surprised to see that I had to review a Bulk Supplement product that I had not ordered before. How is that possible? Were they temping me to lie? I was not about to violate my integrity by writing a fake review, as tempting as it was because I do like free stuff. I read other reviewers write that Bulk Supplements made them the same confusing offer, so I don't think it is an isolated incident. Personally, I wish I had read about this review offer prior to ordering because it left just as bad a taste in my mouth, figuratively speaking, as the Spirulina powder itself. I cannot honesty say that I have noticed any immediate beneficial health effects after consuming Spirulina powder but it may take some time because I have let myself go for several years. I can say it curbs my appetite, I feel so nauseous after my morning smoothie that I have no desire to eat more. Another thing I thought I'd mention, this powder is like a green food dye, a little tiny bit will make a smoothie very dark green, which could come in handy if you need green food coloring in a pinch. Hopefully I will soon start feeling the benefits of Spirulina powder and, when and if I do, I will report back!

Better spirulina than most brands
I'm a long time vegan who has been trying to find a way to get more protein and greens into my diet without breaking the bank; beans, rice, soy, other carb and "standard" veggies like broccoli and potatoes don't quite seem to be doing the trick anymore. This, along with BulkSupplements' chlorella powder (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPNGR7S?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3), already appears to be doing the trick. I just got them today and mixed 1 tsp chlorella and 2 tsp spirulina in a 1:2 ratio as suggested into some water, then quaffed it. Good energy already two hours later, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a very mild seaweed/fishy taste, but nothing bothersome. I'm also not hungry, which is a good sign that the protein is readily digested, too. I will be doing the 1:2 tsp dosing with breakfast daily for sure and maybe in the afternoon as a pick-me-up, too. It will take a bit to see if this really will meet what seem to be extra protein needs, but I'm hopeful. Will update later once I know more. (Adding: This is an almost identical review to the one I did for BulkSupplements' chlorella, since I'm using the chlorella and spirulina together, but I have used different brands of spirulina previously and this one is clearly good quality. First time user of chlorella, however.)

Here's Helpful Info for Messiness Issues
This was my first time trying spirulina - got it for too high overall cholesterol (287) after blood panel. My next test is in November, so I marked my calendar to update my review if it helps or doesn't. I saw a lot of comments on messiness of this product and also on the taste and smell. You know how vanilla extract smells really really good, but if you taste it as-is, doesn't taste good at all? This spirulina was just the opposite for me - it smells absolutely horrible, but if you mix it with a sweet drink, it tastes just like the sweet drink tastes, yummy! I use diet cranberry juice or sugar free lemonade. On to the messiness issues, this is what I do. First of all, accept the messiness and the fact that some of the spirulina will get all over everything, including you. Take a pair of scissors, a medium size sheet of wax paper on your countertop, a small or medium wide-mouth jar and a measuring tablespoon. Place the pouch top side up on the wax paper and tamp down the powder as much as possible. Carefully cut the top of the pouch just below the self-seal opening. Put your jar in the middle of the wax paper, and slowly pour the spirulina into the jar. You can use the wax paper as a funnel to pour any spilled stuff into the jar. Seal the jar, rinse the green stuff off your hands, wipe the jar off, and place your measuring tablespoon beside it on a smaller piece of wax paper on your countertop so you don't forget to drink it every day. Also drink lots of water after drinking the spirulina - this will help to avoid constipation that may occur in some folks. Hope this helps!
