Been using these since I was a wee lad. Nothing better than this Japanese squash smell. I get compliments on it every time whenever people hop in my Tesla. One thing to note: The smell may seem to go away after a few days to a week. But that’s just you getting used to the smell. When other people come in my car they still say, “Wow, what’s that smell?” Subsequently, refills may appear weaker in smell after that but that’s just because you are accustomed to the smell already and will not smell as strong because of it.

I would purchase again. I love the squash but wish it would last me longer. I would purchase again. Has anyone tried the other smells.

I've been on a quest to find the *best* car air freshener, and the Air Spencer is a very popular option that was recommended to me. I was excited to try it out, as I'm unfamiliar with the "squash" scent that many people grew up with. I have a nice car that I want to smell fantastic, so I figured this would be a great place to start. The scent kind of reminds me of fruit, minty pink bubblegum, and a very light note of musk. A few reviews said that it smells kind of like a car wash, and I think they're right. When I first opened the package, I really wasn't sure how to feel about it. The smell is nice, but it just wasn't really something that I would want inside a Porsche or Tesla. Still, I placed the unit into my car and left it overnight to give it a fair chance. The next day, I had my wife and daughter both get in the car and give me their honest opinion about the smell, and they both didn't really like it. It's not offensive in any way, but it just doesn't really compliment leather for some reason. To me, it's kind of like cologne; some scents work well with some people and not so well on others. I think that Squash is really suited for a nostalgic type of vehicle with fabric seats, specifically from the 80's or 90's. In a modern luxury car it smells a little out of place, but that's just my opinion. I took the unit out and replaced it with a can of Ozium original gel, which always gets tons of compliments. I'm still on the hunt for the best air freshener, but if you don't know where to start, I would suggest Ozium.

The smell brings me back to my highschool fast and furious days but now smelling it as an adult, I realize that I didn't appreciate the smell back then. They say squash or citrus.... what does squash smell like? I never ate a squash that smelled like that. The smell is very pleasant. This may cost a little more than your cheap rear view pine trees or even your vent mounted febreeze cartridges. But this smell is above and beyond in complexity. You can have all of those familiar smells but this one blows them all away. Everytime someone sits in my car asks, wtf is that smell? in a good way... It's almost a citrus variation of bubble gum, but another fragrant I can't quite put my finger on. It's not overpowering and it even masks the smell of cigarettes which I'm guilty of smoking in my car occasionally. Everyone even asks, if I smoke in my car because they can't smell smoke. I leave the cartridge a 1/3 of the way open so I can't imagine what it would smell like fully open. A small tip..... Don't mount it on your dashboard where the sun can speed up it's demise. I suggest keeping it out of the sunlight to give it more longevity. I mounted mine under the glovebox where it's not visible. I replace the cartridge every month or two and I daily drive my car it's mounted in.
