We had a backup camera system that came with a terrible mount. The screen was thicker than a tablet, but the brackets on this mount let us mount it. The arm is solid and so far it's stable in our truck.

Excellent tablet mount for your vehicle. 3 points of adjustment and 7 inches of arm length. Rock solid. No vibration at all. Holds my ipad mini securely. I mounted it in my truck for my ELD. The cradle is plastic, but everything else is machined aluminum. This unit is light years better than ANYTHING you're going to find in a truck stops. VERY competitively priced.

The arm with the adjusting balls are metal. The flat part and the fingers that actually grip the tablet are some sort of plastic, but not a flimsy, brittle plastic. It appears to be a high quality industrial-type of plastic that looks like it will hold up to normal wear and tear, or even some mild abuse. They give you plenty of interchangeable gripper fingers of various sizes to enable this to be used with a wide variety of tablet sizes. Overall, I am very pleased. My only (minor) critique is that it is a bit heavy (roughly 1 pound or a bit less) and given how heavy the combined weight of this mounting arm and the tablet will be, you will need a solid mounting location to avoid having this pull out of the mounting screws in the dash. I would find a location where you can screw into metal or somehow put a backing plate behind your dashboard mounting location to give this a better chance of not pulling out of the dash as you bounce down the road. I am mounting this to a metal bracket that I installed on top of my Ford F350 dash board. The bracket I installed has a backing plate under the dashboard (I took part of the dashboard apart to install the backing plate), so I shouldn't have this problem. Just an FYI

Tackform makes a solid system for mounting almost anything. We've used cell phone mounts, monitors and again another tablet mount on our trailers articulating desks. If you want perfection in a mounting system...Go Tackform!

I'm using this to mount an iPad Pro into my truck, and so far it has been working great. The metal arm is very strong and stiff, and does not flex like other plastic arms do while driving over rough terrain. Be aware that "Metal Drill Base Tablet Mount" does NOT mean that the entire thing is made of metal (which I was expecting based on the name). The tablet mount portion is made of plastic, the only metal larts are the main mounting arm itself and the AMPS base plates. Likewise, I don't know why but the metal arms use a smaller, non-standard 20mm ball - so forget about interchanging or mixing and matching with other parts from other brands that use the more common 26mm ball (even Tackform has other devices that use a 26mm ball, why did they make this one the odd 20mm??). I will still give it 4 stars because it seems to be nicely made and the materials feel high quality.

I purchased this mount after trying another all plastic mount. The plastic mount had lots of flex and the ball joints slipped while driving on bumpy roads. I need my tablet to stay stable while driving. Then I saw this Tackform mount and gave it a try. The mounting bracket and pivot arms are aluminum and stay in position through the bumpiest of our county roads. The cradle is plastic but works well with several different size arms to hold your tablet of choice. I highly recommend this tablet mount!

It's well constructed but far from being heavy-duty. Things worked out for my use but it was excessively overpriced.
