Lola is excited because she is going to spend the afternoon with Morten, the little brother of Charlie’s best friend. Lola has planned out the entire afternoon with fun and games, but her hopes are dashed when she discovers that Morten is so shy he won’t even speak! Lola tries everything she can think of to get Morten to break out of his shell, but nothing does the trick. How will Lola and Morten have fun? Review: "Lola says, 'Hello, Morten.' Morten doesn't say anything." - "You Can be My Friend" is a book adaptation of one of the most delightful and imaginative stories from the "Charlie and Lola" television series. In this book, Lola is meeting the little brother of Charlie's best friend Marv for the first time. Lola is extremely excited to meet Morten, who is her age, but it seems like Morten really isn't excited. Marv tells Lola that Morten isn't a "big talker," but Lola doesn't understand, at least not at first. She wants to play all sorts of games with him, such as tea party and "upside-down." Morten, however, just says nothing and does nothing, and when Lola finally asks him if he wants to play, he just shakes his head. But some kids just need a little drawing out of their shell. And Lola, being the high-spirited girl that she is, may figure out how to crack Morten's shell yet. Yes, I can promise a satisfying ending. The book features bouncy text and illustrations showing scenes from the TV series. The book is based on the script written by Carol Noble. Just the cover art alone seems like enough to sell it. Oh, and the pictures on the front and back cover are bit raised, adding an interesting effect. Love Charlie n Lola!
Bought for my 4 year old. I personally love Charlie n Lola. Very tired of spongebob n the ugly noise. Charlie n Lola s more quiet with cute pictures. Read to my daughter n the pictures catches her eye. She has mild autism n the books catches her attention.

Huge hit for a 4 year old
My 4 year old niece LOVES the Charlie and Lola series. If you are trying to find a good series to give to nieces, nephews or your own kids this is a great one.

Wonderful book. Highly Recommend.
Great colors that capture children's attention and then the story line draws them in to the characters. Wonderful readable series, with none of the mean spirited children's characters so prevalent today, that follow the adventures of Lola as she explores the essence of childhood.

Love it!
What a nice story of trying to make someone happy and then doing something they like to do that you don't really like to do but you know that it will make them happy! Excellent illustrations! Colorful, artful and bright! A great book for your book collection.

Not like the rest
I am a big fan of Charlie and Lola and have the whole collection for my three year old daughter. This book is NOT like the old ones (Excuse me that is my book, Snow is my favorite and my best, I'm not sleepy etc..) The story is a bad, very short version of the TV series and the design that used to be fantastic and creative is limited to text on a block at the side of the image. The price is great, but it's not worth it. (The same goes for I'm an Alligator" and "I can do anything... " Its a pity because they were unique in their stories and illustrations.
