Good for caving
This headlamp comes with two different headbands; one is fabric and elastic for use on your bare noggin, and the other is a heavy rubber strap for use on helmets. I use this light with the helmet strap for caving, and it stays in place well, even when being scraped against the sides of a cave passage, and cleans up easily. The three brightness settings are good for different conditions, depending on the size of the passage or room I am in. Lower light for smaller crawls, map and instrument reading, or eating, and the high setting is good for large rooms and passages. Battery life is good. On a 14 hour cave survey trip I changed the batteries once, in the last hour of the trip, not because the light was becoming dim, but because the built in LED battery indicator (a small red LED) was on, and it was a convenient time to do so before sealing my cave pack and beginning the long slog in a stream passage back to the surface. Although I have not had the light completely submerged, it has become very wet and the post trip inspection showed no water infiltration. The adjustment range of the light (how far it can be rotated on the base) is good, and can be adjusted to put the light where you need it and keep it there. This is a very good, relatively low cost light for caving.

Septor Stream Light head lights with 7 LED's
I've been using these lights commercially for the last 6 yrs and they are reliable and provide a good light with good battery life that is measured in weeks of use everyday. They only take 3 AAA batteries. I especially like the two style head band straps; one for hard hats and one for that fits over your naked head. I use one of each style of head band as I use them almost every day and the changeover is somewhat of a pain. They aren't the smallest or lightest on the market, but I can not imagine a light that is more reliable. I would recommend this light to anyone. I bought one of the lights when they first became available and my clients would snicker and ask if I was a coal miner. Now they are common as can be in the utility power plants that I consult to. It seems as if everyone has a head light and these Stream Light are the most common among professionals. The only negative is that they don't give you much warning when the batteries go dead. It's full brilliance and then 60 seconds after noticing that it isn't as bright as it was........it's dead. This is no biggie for me as I buy my batteries by the case in all sizes and I keep them changed out often. I'll use a digital volt meter and change the batteries when they get down to 1.3 vdc from the full 1.6vdc when new. Stream Light also makes a very similar head light with 3 LED's and a central incandescent bulb that is only good for gauging battery life. The incandescant light will dim noticeably when the batteries get low, but the LED's are still bright.

The best overall LED Headlamp!
First off, Streamlight--if you're not familiar with them--makes high quality LED flashlights, weapon-mounted lights, and many other LED light products. They make them very well, and for cheaper than most of their competitors(or in the case of SureFire, MUCH cheaper!) I believe the quality of their products to be just as good if not better than SureFire, Fenix, or Insight Technologies, which are the leading LED light manufacturers. This headlamp works well, throws lots of light, and is durable, and affordable! Pros: High quality (Known for their flashlights and high quality LED products) Durable (I have dropped it numerous times and it keeps working) Very bright (50 lumens in highest mode, which is great for a headlamp) Comfortable (padded forehead band and soft wide elastic stretch bands) Versatile (comes with alternate strap, and 3 light modes) Affordable (Cheaper than many competitor brands) Adjustable (LED unit is fully adjustable to angle the lights where you need it) Great Battery Life (last for many weeks of normal 1-2 hours a day use) Cons: A tad front heavy due to the LED housing being a little big. It's not uncomfortable, but it might take some getting used to. Takes only 3 AAA batteries. I would have preferred AA batteries since they have a higher Mah rating, but they probably wouldn't fit. Great for: Camping, dog walking, in the workshop, car trunk, jogging, bike riding, any nighttime activity where you need both hands! So there you have it. If you want a great LED Headlamp that's dependable, affordable, and has great features, then you need to buy this light, you won't regret it!

Pay attention to how you put the batteries in
All in all a great product and we use it almost every night around the farm. My one real heads up is I nearly broke it when trying to put the batteries in as the tube has to be lined up with some grooves that run along the battery compartment. If you don't line it up then the tube will get stuck and the lamp will not work. Just be mindful of that. Other than that one thing, the product works perfectly and is worth the money

I love this light
This light is great. So great I'm writing my first review and I bought this in November 2012. I never use a hand held flashlight anymore. Why would you? How can you work with one hand holding the light? This shines where you are looking. I use this light daily during hunting and trapping seasons. I use it for reading in bed so I don't disturb my wife with the bedside lamp. I use it while boating to my duck blind in the dark. The adjustable beam is the brightest of any headlight I've used. I don't spend much on these lights so for the $20 or so I spent on it, it has been a great value. A buddy of mine has an identical one and uses the hard hat strap and loves it. I think the elastic strap is very good. Very easy to adjust with a sliding adjuster. I find it to be very balanced and I have no complaints about this light at all. It has stood up very well to the daily abuse, rain, cold, mud. When I need a new one, I will buy this one. The AAA batteries keep the weight to a minimum. Battery life seems reasonable to me.

Great light
I have an older model Streamlight headlamp that had a few years on it before I found it in the road in front of my house and it is still working great but looks a little rough. I purchased this as a spare when the other one wears out. I used it for my honey do list this past weekend and it worked very well to repair closet shelving and clean out some bathroom ceiling fans. I really like the low setting for reading directions and I didnt notice a huge difference in brightness between the medium and high setting, but it is bright enough to use in a dark closet and allows adjustment directly on your head or over a baseball cap. Did not notice much if any glare on my glasses either way. Fits great battery life appears to be very good and looks to be water tight as well. This one is much lighter to wear than my old one or other larger AA battery headlamps I have and was very comfortable to wear for a few hours.

System Builders Dream
Picked this head light up as an aid for building computer systems as I was getting tired of fumbling around with hand held flashlights, and clamp on lights for building my custom computer systems. And this little light does the trick! I am not sure why other reviewers are saying the light seems to heavy for the strap, and keeps sliding down as I have not experienced that issue. I am always bending over, turning from side to side, and upside down in some cases, and have yet to find the light sliding or dropping in any way. The light itself has a very handy tilting mechanism to get the beam into different angles, and three light levels that are cycled through with each press of the button. The light is very bright even on the lowest setting, and will light up a large room on max. I have not had the light long enough to determine battery life but I am leaving it on it's lowest setting to get the longest run time. My only very miner grip is I wish they would have put two separate switches to make the unit even more efficient. One button to cycle through light levels, and maybe a small slid switch for the power. As it is you have to cycle through all the light levels to turn off the unit. Overall very pleased with this product, and will defiantly be buying up a bunch of these to pass around as gifts for the holidays.

Very good headlamp!
I have been using this headlamp to make repairs under the house and has been really nice to have! It is very comfortable to wear and stays in place as you work. The light is not extremely bright but provides more than enough light to make repairs in dark environments. This light is designed for close up work within an arms length and it does a very good for this purpose. It will also light up your path maybe up to 10-20 feet in front of you but not much more than that. It is not designed to work as a spot light. I bumped the light on rafters and it did not hurt it at all. It is heavy duty and is built tough. The batteries are easy to change with a screw on cap and seem to last quite a while. Pretty good headlight, I am happy with the purchase!

Solid headlamp
I do a lot of inspection for my job. This headlamp is perfect. It has three light settings and gives a very clear white light. I would recommend this product for anyone. The one negative is these are fairly pricey, but the quality is most certainly there.

Happy with the look and feel
Happy with the look and feel. It produces good light but haven't had an opportunity to judge its battery drain yet. Not too worried because triple AAA's are inexpensive and easy to pack extras.

Great light for various applications
I work as a carpenter, I needed a light for my hard hat, this came with a heavy rubber second strap, works great, three settings, lasts long, pretty tough, I'm happy .

Hard hat light
This light is sufficiently bright and has a reasonable quality mounting bracket that secures to a headpiece or a rubber strap to affix the unit to a hard hat. I use it for the latter purpose and it has been excellent so far. It fits snug on my hard hat, does not interfere with my hat-mounted hearing protection and it is fairly easy to get it off of the hard hat to use it with the headpiece if needed. It is not very heavy and does not make the hard hat sit awkwardly.

Great product!
I bought this for hubby for Christmas. He said he'd like a headlamp to make it easier to do certain work-related things. Wow, it's only been a couple of weeks since Christmas...he's been using this headlamp for lots of things...even more than he had planned on. He loves it! It fits well, stays put...is adjustable....excellent product!!
