I will be breaking this review down in two parts: Product Quality and Gameplay Quality Product Quality: The box is well made and includes a ribbon inside for easy removal of the cards in the game. The dice feel great as well. The printing on the cards is consistent and the art style is right up my alley. The colors (well the reds!) are vibrant and the cardstock like material for the cards ensures that the art doesn't bleed through the card. I do wish they were more of a "laminated" style card like I have seen in other card-based tabletop games, but that does not mean these cards aren't great quality. They feel fantastic. Gameplay Quality: I have only played this solo. That being said, it is fantastic for solo play. There isn't really a solo variant, you just play two-handed. The gameplay mechanics themselves have a great balance between easy to learn and interesting enough to keep the player engaged. With rolls determining your success with actions, the way you proceed through the story really can be luck of the draw. But that is exactly what keeps me coming back! The choices you make throughout the game affect the game going forward. Pair that with the randomness of rolls, and you'll have a different experience almost every time you play. This game hooked me and has me looking forward to Volume 2 as well as the other games in the Spire's End universe.

This is a good game with well created content & materials. The cards are (necessarily) large, with decent artwork & illustration to go with the story. This game plays like reading your way through a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' book, with battles with nasty, unique foes along the way. Even if you manage to win every encounter, you may still 'lose' a game by reaching one of it's many dark endings. My daughter and I have played this together about three times so far, and it's been fun for us.

Have been playing 2player and this game has been a blast to play through. The story is dark and gripping, the art is detailed and thematic, the mechanics are straight forward and unique. Our characters don’t always survive, but each one has been really enjoyable to play. The choose your own adventure keeps you fully engaged. Will most definitely be purchasing the expansions from the creators website: spiresend.com

A super solid concept with super solid execution. My only gripe is that the amazing artwork isn’t carried over into the other projects in the series, and quite frankly that’s enough to keep me from purchasing them.
