Review: Perfect backpacking/camping vest - I've never been a "vest guy" but I bought this because I needed something in between a jacket and a grid fleece for layering in fall and winter backpacking trips. It's become one my favorite pieces of seasonal kit and has great utility. It blocks wind, is water resistant, keeps my core warm while allowing me to release heat so that I don't sweat while wearing it. The 2-way zipper is an amazing feature. If you get too hot while hiking but know you will get too cold if you take a layer off, then zip up from the bottom and let heat out! The pockets are perfect for storing gloves, phone, glasses, water filter when you want to keep it close to your body so it's doesn't freeze in cold weather. On one trip my backpacking air pillow developed a leak, and I turned this vest inside out and and folded it up and the fleece lining functioned as a suitable pillow. I also like the way it looks and feels. I'm 5’10 170lbs athletic build and the medium fits perfect. I can wear it on the trail or to the office. Good selection of colors to choose from. I like this thing so much I told my wife I'm gonna be bummed when the weather warms up and I no longer need to wear it.

Put together good.

I received my vest today and I can honestly say that it's put together good. Now how long will it last, time will tell. I like the overall length. Not short at all. Plenty of useful pockets. The outer shell is not stiff as some have mentioned and the inner lining is warm and comfortable. Two way zipper is a big plus. I have it on a few other items of clothing and they are useful as hell. Great idea. I'm a big guy standing 6ft weighing 265 and the 3xl is perfect. Not tight and not baggy. Good buy so far.
