One of the reasons I was drawn to using an A/C powered charger was because a local farmer had mentioned that cows respect those better than solar powered electric fencing units. However, when I tested this one with a grass test, I needed to be within about a centimeter before I could feel a shock and that was without any kind of distance on the red power line. When hooked up to about a 60 foot stretch, I couldn't feel it at all. The one caviate to this is the way I was testing it was with a longer ground wire to reach the location where my ground rod was located. It's possible it would have performed better with a shorter distance between the ground terminal and the ground rods. One thing I do like about this unit in comparison to other units is that the red and green knobs are much larger and heavy duty than virtually any other unit I've tried. Some of the others I have tried have had the plastic get sun rotted and start to fall apart. I don't think this one is likely to do that. For this reason, it's not a bad unit, you just need to make sure the grounding is really good and close to where your ground system is located and also, but you do need to unplug it to turn it off, unlike many units I've used in the past that have some kind of switch.

When you own a working farm, that old saying, 'good fences make good neighbors' is even more critical and true.This electric fence charger accomplishes that, with no problems in efficiency. I would purchase this model again if we need additional fencing.

Too soon to tell how good this actually is but it seems well made and works great. Will keep the deer and rabbits away from the plants I want to keep them away from. Should finally find success in growing my bamboo fast enough and thick and tall enough for the desired privacy.Good product. Good value.
