Worth every penny but watch out for TV pairing hiccups.
I am upgrading to the Sonos Arc Ultra from my previous system of Bose 700 Soundbar, Sub and rear. I purchases the Sonos along with Sonos Sub 4 and the Sonos Era 300 rear surround speakers. That being said I'll focus on mostly the sonos soundbar by itself for this review. The app made it super easy to set up, I was up and running in a few minutes. The soundbar worked flawlessly with my LG plasma and PS5 pro. One issue I encountered is that at first the sound was VERY flat and not impressive at all. I then realized my LG TV was still thinking it was connected to the Bose sound bar. I had to sort of re-pair it with the TV so it read correctly as a Sonos Arc Ultra with the TV..after I did that holy cow the sound is amazing. The soundbar by itself is great but it really wows you when you add the sub and rear speakers. Another thing to keep in mind is that the sound calibration is done via the microphone on your phone..so your calibration may vary depending on what model phone you have. I would experiment with different phones if you have different phones to try. This soundbar does not come with a remote. You use the remote that came with your TV and you can also use the sonos app..I found this pretty simple to use. Overall super pleased with this soundbar and found it worth every penny.

Acoustic Brilliance Reimagined: Sets a New Benchmark for Premium Home Theater Audio
The Sonos Arc Ultra is not merely an incremental evolution of the modern soundbar; it is a comprehensive redefinition of what a single-piece home audio system can accomplish. Engineered with remarkable precision and an uncompromising focus on acoustic fidelity, it delivers an immersive 9.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos experience that consistently exceeds expectations, transforming both cinematic entertainment and music reproduction into events worthy of dedicated audiophile systems. From the very first listening session, the Arc Ultra demonstrates exceptional command over spatial audio. Dolby Atmos content is rendered with astonishing dimensionality, creating a convincingly three-dimensional soundstage where dialogue, ambient effects, orchestral scores, and directional cues occupy distinct positions within the listening environment. Height virtualization is particularly impressive, producing a genuine sense of overhead movement that brings films, live performances, and next-generation gaming to life with extraordinary realism. Speech intelligibility deserves special recognition. The soundbar's advanced speech enhancement algorithms ensure dialogue remains crystal clear without sacrificing the integrity of the surrounding soundscape. Whether handling whispered conversations, complex action sequences, or densely layered soundtracks, vocal reproduction maintains remarkable articulation and natural timbre. This balance eliminates the common frustration of constantly adjusting volume during movies. The Arc Ultra's acoustic architecture reflects a sophisticated understanding of modern transducer design. Its precisely engineered driver array produces exceptional channel separation, allowing intricate details to emerge without congestion or distortion. High frequencies are rendered with remarkable clarity and airiness, the midrange remains rich and expressive, while low frequencies possess authority, control, and impressive extension without becoming bloated or overpowering. The resulting tonal balance feels exceptionally refined, equally suited for blockbuster cinema, classical orchestras, jazz ensembles, electronic music, and intimate acoustic recordings. Dynamic performance is another area where the Arc Ultra truly excels. It effortlessly transitions from delicate musical passages to explosive cinematic crescendos with outstanding headroom and composure. Even at elevated listening levels, compression is minimal, transient response remains precise, and distortion is virtually nonexistent, highlighting the sophistication of Sonos' digital signal processing and amplifier design. Music playback is every bit as compelling as its home theater performance. Stereo imaging is expansive, instruments occupy well-defined locations, and vocal performances possess remarkable presence and emotional intimacy. Lossless streaming sources reveal subtle nuances often masked by lesser systems, making extended listening sessions deeply engaging regardless of musical genre. The integration of intelligent room tuning further elevates the experience. Automatic acoustic optimization adapts output characteristics to the unique geometry and reflective properties of the listening space, ensuring consistent performance across a wide variety of environments. The result is an exceptionally coherent presentation that feels carefully calibrated rather than generically configured. Voice control implementation is equally polished. Commands are recognized quickly and executed with impressive reliability, allowing effortless control over playback, volume, smart home functions, and streaming services without interrupting the listening experience. The seamless integration reflects the maturity of Sonos' software ecosystem, where hardware and software operate as a unified platform rather than independent components. Industrial design remains unmistakably Sonos minimalist, elegant, and timeless. The matte black finish complements virtually any contemporary living space while avoiding unnecessary visual distractions. Every detail, from material selection to construction quality, conveys premium craftsmanship and long-term durability. It integrates effortlessly beneath modern televisions while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic presence. Perhaps the Arc Ultra's greatest achievement lies in its remarkable balance between technical sophistication and everyday usability. Advanced acoustic engineering, powerful digital signal processing, immersive Dolby Atmos rendering, intelligent room optimization, intuitive voice control, and effortless streaming coexist within a product that remains refreshingly simple to install and operate. In every meaningful category clarity, immersion, tonal accuracy, dynamic range, spatial precision, software integration, industrial design, and overall user experience; the Sonos Arc Ultra performs at an exceptionally high level. It represents the culmination of thoughtful engineering, meticulous acoustic research, and refined product design. Viewed objectively, the Sonos Arc Ultra stands as one of the finest premium soundbars available today. It delivers a listening experience that is simultaneously technically impressive and emotionally captivating, making it an outstanding investment for discerning listeners seeking reference-quality home entertainment without the complexity of a traditional multi-component surround system. Simply put, it is an extraordinary achievement in modern audio engineering.

If you want the highest quality and best soundbar performance, this is the one to buy
If you're looking to add wireless speakers, etc. to your TV or other entertainment devices, Sonos is the way to go. Sonos is quite expensive, but you're buying not only high-quality audio devices but also the flexibility of being wireless for sound and the interconnectedness of all the Sonos devices. The Sonos app recognizes all of your various devices and makes it easy for them to work together. You can assign devices to specific rooms or, if you want, set up a home audio network where music is played everywhere. The Sonos app also integrates access to Apple Music, Amazon Music, or just the Sonos music that they offer. For a home theater, starting with a Sonos soundbar opens the door for adding other Sonos speakers and a Sonos subwoofer. The sound bar, while using the Sonos application on your smartphone, will recognize other speakers and a subwoofer in the room. You also can configure the speakers to work separately, or they can be part of a surround sound system tied to the Sonos sound bar. The nice thing about each of the system audio components is that individually, you can touch the component (a speaker or soundbar for example) and control the room sound level, so you don't always have to go to the Sonos app on your smartphone to do so. You can get great sound for your entertainment system without requiring a receiver and complicated wiring. Generally, you just need: • A power cable • An HDMI cable for connecting to a TV • Preferably an Ethernet cable so all the devices can work over your Wi-Fi network • The Sonos subwoofer can work wirelessly, without requiring an Ethernet cable connection which is optional

AVR Convert
Okay, I'm moving away from my old Denon AVR and wired speakers to the world of the soundbar. It was either the Sonos or Samsung, and I went with Sonos because I already have 10 other Sonos products, and I liked the idea of them all tied together. That, and from my research, this would be better than the Samsung if I didn't want to add a sub. I'm using the Arc with two ERA 100's as rears, and I'm very impressed. With movies, I'm not missing my AVR at all. Great spatial sound, especially with the rears installed. The clarity of the dialogue is phenomenal, and I haven't had to use the speech enhancement functionality at all. For music? Yeah, this is the weakness. It is "fine" but not great. Adding the two ERA's in the same room definitely helps. Using two ERA 100's linked together does better than the ARC for just music. That said, when not "comparing" it to an AVR, it is solid in terms of music performance. This soundbar is obviously made more for movies than music. I would give it 5 stars for movie watching and 4 stars for a casual music listener. The benefits of having my entire home linked together and the ability to pick and choose what I want to upgrade (and when) make me happy with my choice overall. In terms of the app... I will add that it looks like Sonos has finally gotten over the NIGHTMARE issues with their app. It is still not 100% in terms of all the functionality it should have, but it has been working great for me in the last 4 or 5 months. Enough so that I added this soundbar and 4 new ERA 100's in the previous couple of months. Overall, very happy.

Great Soundbar - Buy additional 2.1 HDMI High Speed Cable
Sonos: including a low-quality HDMI cable with an otherwise exceptional product is a poor business decision. Out of the box, the supplied HDMI (ARC) cable caused random micro-dropouts in the audio. I went through the usual troubleshooting—rebooting the system, power-cycling the TV and soundbar, resetting Wi-Fi—and the dropouts continued. At that point I was convinced the soundbar itself was defective. I photographed the cable and ran it through AI analysis; the verdict pointed strongly to the cable. I swapped it for a proper high-speed HDMI cable and the micro-dropouts disappeared immediately. The soundbar itself is outstanding. Paired with the Bass unit the performance is genuinely impressive—clear, powerful, and refined. That makes the decision to ship it with a cheap, inadequate cable all the more frustrating. High-speed HDMI 2.1-certified cables cost well under $5. Upgrading the included cable would almost certainly reduce returns, eliminate unnecessary support tickets, and give customers the experience the hardware deserves. Pairing this caliber of soundbar with a substandard cable is like putting clown shoes on a tuxedo. Sonos, please fix the packaging of sub-standard HDMI cables.

Joy, joy, joy!
This and the Sub Mini has elevated TV and movies to a level I only dreamed of before. Expensive, but brings me so much joy, especially when listening to music via Apple Music using Airplay from my computer. Joy, Joy, Joy. Dancing happens around the living room. Yes, you could get some accidental exercise! Oh, and there are Speech Clear levels on this bar that aren't available on the lesser Sonos bars. Makes a huge difference!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unbelievable Sound Experience – Worth Every Penny!
I’ve owned a lot of soundbars over the years, but the Sonos Ultra is on another level. The moment I set it up (which took less than 10 minutes thanks to the simple HDMI eARC connection and the Sonos app’s step-by-step guidance), I knew this was something special. The 9.1.4 spatial audio with Dolby Atmos is simply jaw-dropping—sound doesn’t just come from the front, it feels like it’s coming from everywhere. Movies completely fill the room with action, and the Sound Motion technology places effects so precisely that you feel like you’re right in the middle of the scene. Dialogue is crystal clear thanks to the AI-powered Speech Enhancement—no more rewinding because I missed what someone said. Music is equally impressive, with rich detail, deep bass, and a soundstage that feels like a live performance. The elegant design blends beautifully with my living room—it looks high-end but doesn’t distract from the screen. Control is effortless too: I can use my TV remote, the Sonos app, or even just my voice with Alexa. Trueplay tuning made a noticeable difference, automatically adjusting the sound to my room’s acoustics. Streaming is seamless with WiFi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and Spotify Connect—I’ve played music from every source without a hiccup. I eventually paired it with a Sonos Sub and Era 300 rears, and the surround experience is honestly better than some theaters. Plus, I love being able to expand to other rooms with Sonos speakers for whole-home audio. If you’re serious about home entertainment, this is the best soundbar you can buy. The Sonos Ultra is pure audio magic.

Jack of trades, master of none
I'll start by saying I am fully immersed in the Sonos ecosystem. I have 14 separate zones, using a mix of sonos equipment, and other various new and old analog components. I replaced a 2.1 system in my family room (sonos amp + sub + wharfedale speakers) with the arc ultra, 2 x era 300s and a sonos gen 2 sub. Tv and movies sound better than before. The surround effect, in 5.1 or dolby atmos, is the most noticeable improvement. The speech enhancement function still works well. However, the full arc ultra set up just doesn't come anywhere close in quality to the 7.2.4 wired system in my media room. Not comparable at all. As much as I've tried tweaking the arc ultra and room settings (not that there is much tweaking available), it cannot compete with a traditional theater system. Direct wired sound will always beat any "virtual wall bouncing" 9.1.4 sound trickery. If a wired theater system is a 10, then the sonos arc ultra is just a 5/10 experience. The worst part for me is listening to music. The wall of sound is gone, in favor of 3d immersion, and personally I don't like it. It feels like a very narrow, somewhat hollow, sound stage, and the sweet spot for listening to music is very small. Moving around the room unbalances the experience completely. I really hate the family room for listening to music now, it's hands-down the most disappointing audio "upgrade" I've ever made. I tried to connect a 2nd sub, but discovered the arc ultra is only compatible when using 2 of the latest generation subs. At $900/ea, this system really doesn't deserve it. For casual daytime tv and movies, in an unimportant secondary space, and if you also buy 2 era 300s and have a compatible sonos subwoofer, the arc ultra will provide an adequate audio improvement. If you like music, and have heard music on proper speakers before, then this will disappoint you so much.

Great on its own for a small and medium sized livingroom.
I have been interested in the Sonos eco system for a while and also for years debating on whether I wanted to spend the money on a Sonos soundbar. After receiving an Amazon gift card I was finally able to justify the cost after it went on sale. The only thing I am disappointed about is how long it took for me to pull the trigger. This soundbar replaced an old Polk soundbar with sub. This soundbar was all I needed for a medium sized livingroom. I thought about getting a Sonos sub however I am glad I didn't. This soundbar has enough bass to fill the space. Very happy with this purchase and will look to get some surround speakers to complete the setup.
