When the restaurant gives you useless tools...
I love it! I'm a bartender and a server with a deep appreciation of a good knife in culinary terms. I watch coworkers saw at fruit with the knives the owners buy. I watch them store them blade down in metal containers. I watch cooks and chefs treat the knives owners buy the same way (of course, never their own). It's nothing near the knives I have at home in terms of sharpness but, maybe, someday I'll have it sharpened (I'm not experienced enough to do it myself). It's also not where near the cost. It's a great tool when you occasionally need it. The cost for my time is totally worth it.

Beautiful knife
This is a very beautiful knife. Its hard handle is easy to grip, which allows for a safe storing/folding of the blade. The blade came pretty sharp.

Very Nice Knife
Love the knife, beautiful blade and handle! have it on my belt right now as I write this review. I feel comfortable recommending it for a purchase. Other reviews I read where also all positive. Update 01May2024: Just bought my second knife. For the price, a great deal for a great looking knife and it is very sharp!

Impressive quality
As beautiful and impressive as the product descriptions pictures are, is how it looks in real life too. I've held and used a decent amount of pocket knives, but this is my first folding chef's knife, and I am loving it so far. The handle is made of smoothly finished olivewood, an unnecessarily luxurious and robust touch to the already substantial steel handle interior, which is locked by liner lock. The blade itself is where things get truly interesting, because it is made of 440 stainless steel, but looks as though it was forged by a Japanese swordsmith, the dark meteoric patina and hamon(the wavy line in the steel of a katana differentiating the iron of the spine from the hardened steel of the edge) are both unneeded for a kitchen knife, but greatly appreciated. I thought, surely, for the offering price, features and dimensions of the blade, that surely there must be some kind of mistake that I got a knife this jam packed full of quality. The only possible shadow that could be cast on this is the use of 440 stainless steel, since it isn't the most quality steel ever made, but quality craftsmanship beats material quality any day (especially when it is used by humans), so that argument has no legitimate ground to stand on. The burlap drawstring carry bag it comes in, as well as the box containing it, are traditionally inspired, and make it a great gift to present. Overall, for the price, this folding knife will not disappoint, just keep it in the bag if you pocket stow it, because there is no lock to keep it closed (I recommend to stow it in a bag/backpack etc.)

Super cool, but a little pricey
I really liked this knife. It was like a Japanese kitchen switch knife. It looked sick when I opened it up. The closing and opening mechanic is pretty solid. However, the pricing is just a little high.

Quality and craftsmenship - beautiful knife!
Wow - just wow! This is a beautifully crafted knife. It is very sharp - which I do expect from a quality Japanese knife, so the proper cautions need to be observed. The knife ships in a nice bag (it looks like burlap, but is much better quality), which is inside the cardboard box (see photo), and comes with a square of cloth (I assume for cleaning the blade). When carrying the knife around (purse/toolbox/coat pocket), I'll definitely leave it in the bag to prevent accidental opening - it is sharp! The knife has a solid-feeling thumbstud to aid in one-handed opening of the knife (I have really tiny hands, so that really doesn't apply to me). There is a slight pressure/resistance when opening the knife - which is nice to prevent accidentally opening the knife. Once open, there is a locking mechanism that prevents closing - they include a small card showing how to press the mechanism to the left to allow the blade to close (a fairly common feature of nice folding knives). The wood is smooth - they list it as olive wood - and feels really nice in your hand. The wood is obviously fit onto the knife with great precision. I really didn't expect this quality of knife at this price - I'm so impressed! This knife looks like it would be at home in a kitchen, or in the forest. I was planning on putting it in my car toolbox as a nice utility knife - but it seems way too nice for that!

Fantastic Small Utility Knife
This is a very nice utility knife. It's perfect for keeping on hand while preparing food out on the patio or while on a camping trip. It's a bit large to just carry in a pocket, but for something to make good use for food preparation of it's a great knife. The wooden handle is beautiful and smooth. It looks great. The dark top edge of the blade has a texture to it that makes it easy to pull the blade out. Once you open it the blade locks by means of an internal spring-loaded tab which keeps the blade locked in place. To close it, just slightly press the lock tab and the blade is released. This is a fairly common system for good pocket knives. The tab has small notches where you need to press which makes it easy to close. The blade is very substantial and sharp and does a great job of slicing and trimming fruits and vegetables. The only thing it's missing is a tab near the end of the blade to keep it closed. Without that, you have to be careful if you keep it in your pocket. You wouldn't want it to partially open and possibly cut your hand or leg. Depending on how you intend to use it this could be an important consideration. It's great for using as part of your cooking equipment. It's more of a concern if you intend to carry it around.
