Incorrect operation on 2006 Explorer 4.6L
Product fit and finish looks just like OEM. However, as others said, the product does not function like OEM. The product starts in the "engaged" position (rather than the inverse) - which means every day it starts with the fan running on 'high' - when you live close to a busy street and need to "get on it" right out of the driveway, this creates a safety problem as the vehicle struggles when the fan is engaged. After about 3 minutes (it's not consistent) the fan 'releases' and you're fine at that point.Secondly and also as others mentioned, when the vehicle is warmed up and the AC is on, the clutch makes a very intermittent but LOUD "TAP TAP.... TAP TAP TAP.. TAP.. TAP TAP TAP"This apparently is "Normal" operation for these aftermarket units, as for whatever reason they don't handle variable engagement commands the same way that the OEM unit does.Long story short, returned it, got the OEM Motorcraft one, and everything is functioning 100% as it should.2 star since it, technically, "worked" - but I don't see how anyone would want this on their vehicle long-term.

Give it 5 min to start working properly.
Went on fairly easy don't freak out at first when you put it on and it's not working correctly for the first 5 min. Guessing the fluid inside has to move before the clutch starts to work. Until then it sounds like a P51 Mustang.

Be sure you need this before doing the replacement.
Worked great. The only thing that I would suggest you do prior to purchasing this part is to be certain yours is bad. After replacing mine I found that the old one was functioning properly. However not using the Ford gold antifreeze was causing my Explorer to think it was overheating. Flushing my system and replacing it with the Ford coolant would have solved my issues. However this is a high quality party and functions as it should with the proper coolant.
