Best pilot watch for the money!
This watch exceeded my expectations even after reading the comments. As an aviator this watch will ensure you don't miss the time hack, and is visible night and day. Last week, I took a picture and noticed after the flight the seconds displayed in the aircrafts GPS time was matched exactly with the second hand of the watch....wow. Anyone who needs accurate timing and practical uses while looking sharp Should consider this piece. As an aside I know many folks don't care for the band, but I actually prefer it. It's awesome! I can't stop looking at this time piece! If I ever need a replacement it will be the same model! Update 7 Years Later: I've flown all over the world, in all types of aircraft with this watch and it keeps perfect time to the second still with the atomic clock radio update. I was able to update in parts of Africa (not always), The Middle East/Aisa, and in Hong Kong, and across Europe. It's survived quite a bit, hard duty flying on and off ships at sea, (the Radar has fried multiple other Casios for reference which is why I bought this because of the certified ANTIMAG 4800 spec, it didn't fall short of that spec or it would have been fried like my previous Casios) It survived a road bike, and hard landing/Crash (from an engine failure prior to landing) The crystal has been scratched and I took it to a jeweler to be cleaned and get a citizen original band for the same model I even tried ordering direct from Citizen but was unsuccessful. I've gone through 2 other Barton bands which have a good look. The glass we couldn't get the deeper scratches out, it's not a hardened sapphire but if that is my only complain than I'm doing pretty good. It still doesn't look too bad though, picture on the wrist attached. Even today I looked at the GPS system time in the aircraft and the watch was perfectly in sync to the second. Due to the nostalgia I have from traveling with this watch I think I might elect to retire it, but for the cost I doubt I can do much better. I suspect for good luck on next check rides etc. I will break this watch out and be the same old friend by my side as it has for the years since purchase. I know that it will continue to be as reliable as the air beneath my wings. I HIGHLY encourage if you are thinking about the watch to buy it. It IS a beauty, while being a silent steward that never gives up and is precise while enduring the unreal adventure that you might be thinking of starting next.

A Good Citizen...with the potential to be great
Purchased this in lieu of the Citizen AT8025-51E. It doesn't have the sapphire crystal and screw-down crown of the 8025, but does provide the same functionality and then some: timer; 1/100s chrono; two alarms; simultaneous display of two separate times; day-of-the-week display; compass -- provided you know how to use it; and auto DST adjust. The AT (Atomic Time) feature works great. I live in the South and have no problems receiving the signal (RX strength is High). I own several other Citizen watches and the perpetual calendar feature is a must have, but now with the AT, and the factory default set to auto, I don't have to worry about day light savings time (I F'N HATE DST!!!). A lot of people comment on the OEM band. I didn't bother with it...it's a rubber bracelet. Once unboxed, I immediately replaced it with a spare 23mm watch band as is used on my LUMINOX 8350 -- a very flexible and rugged PU watch band, which for me, averages about 2-3 years between replacements; LUMINOX gets the Best-Watchband-Ever award for this one. One of the primary reasons for not buying the AT8025 was the bracelet. I'm not a fan of bracelets (metal or otherwise) as they don't wear well and don't adjust to the situation (for wearing over wet-suits or other long sleeve protective clothing). Two features I don't like: 1) having to pull out the crown to the first position to change between modes (chrono, timer, time, alarms, etc.). My other Citizen's with similar functionality didn't require this, which tends to make one think twice before using it; 2) my other Citizen watches didn't have a back light, and this one does, which is a plus. The fact that the back light doesn't work in chrono or timer mode is a major fail. I could understand this if the dial had Tritium vials in the major markers and second hand, but the second hand has no luminescence (period), and any luminescence is via paint. If only Citizen would incorporate Tritium markers into their watches...then they would be the best watch ever! Several of my watches have Tritium markers and are still glowing strong 24/7/365 after 10+ years. It may cause cancer in the state of CA, but Tritium works great!

Tons of features packed and incredible value for money
I have been eyeing this watch and was patient for the past three years. I think I got the best deal on the whole wide web at any given point through this watch's sale. This is an incredible timepiece that is must to be part of your watch collection. First things first it is it has an incredibly big watch face at 48mm. Something like the offering from Diesel or the Seiko Lords series. So if you have wrist size 6 or less you should pass on this one. Another over six works great. This bad boy catches people's attention right off the bat. If you appreciate the incredible engineering that has gone into designing and providing the functionality in this watch. It is probably the only watch on the market which provides so many features in the given price range. Atomic time keeping and eco drive means your watch is essentially going to be maintenance free and accurate with atomic radio sync taking place every day at 2am in the morning. World time is another feature along with the digital display coupled with analog to give it that extra edge in terms of functionality. If you still appreciate the aesthetics of a classic analog watch this will be an incredible addition to your collection. Lastly there is one major disadvantage that might be a deal breaker for a lot of people. The watch face houses a mineral crystal instead of sapphire glass that is the norm these days for any high end watches. So the watch face scratches easily. You can have citizen change your watch face for under $100 but yes this face will scratch easily. So you can't be carefree with this one. Absolute must to have go ahead get this. Best investment you'll make and the resale value on the watch is also incredible. So it'd be easy to offload the watch if you do get bored after a couple of years.

Excellent watch with few flaws
I really like this watch. I really do. It has tons of functions and it looks amazing as well. I am a chef so I use timer and alarm the most. One of my favorite feature about this watch is that unlike many other digital watch (I. E. Lower end Casio) you do not push buttons set timer or alarm. You rotate the watch stem either clock or counter clock wise to set it. Not only it is faster to change but also it allows you to go back instead of pushing down button all the way around if you made a mistake while setting it. However, I still have some other issues with digital display. First it is very hard to read in low light condition. I understand that negative display looks better than positive display but at the same time it is so much harder to read it in a less than ideal lighting environment. Second, whenever analog hands cover over digital display it becomes much harder to use other features because you can't see it. I know that this is a common problem with many Ana-dig watches. But I already saw some solutions to this problems in other watches. For example some Casio watches automatically move hands away from their display whenever you are using chronograph function. I can't imagine it would be that hard to implement it but then I am not a watch designer. Third, you can't use back lighting while using timer or chronograph. The watch doesn't have dedicated backlight button. You can light the display by pressing upper right button but that button is also used for stopping timer or chronograph. Even though I am little disappointed about its functions I still really like the watch. Frankly, if you don't care about those little functions and just want cool looking pilot watch that is accurate, then I would highly recommend this watch. And yes you do have to cut the rubber bands before you can wear it but it is really easy to do( just be careful not to cut it too much at once. There is no going back) I give four stars out of five since this is an overall excellent watch despite few flaws. I suspect those flaws that I have mentioned in the review won't bother majority of the people who would buy it anyway.

Great Looking Timepiece / Careful with the Band
Great looking watch. Obviously very accurate since it reads the time from the WWVB radio station (Atomic Clock) in the US. Love the UTC time on the small upper dial, and quick change of time-zones, etc. Not too difficult to learn to use. Just read the online manual, and/or watch the video. If you are a pilot you'll appreciate the circular slide rule which is turned using the lower-left knob. I haven't flown with it yet, but imagine using it in flight would be my last resort. Love that you never need to charge the watch (unless you are Count Dracula). Not crazy about the rubber wrist band. You will need to cut it to size, and it is an involved process, so take your time. (Search YouTube for a video) or if you don't trust yourself, take it to a watch shop. If you cut too close to the 'tunnel', and don't leave sufficient rubber your risk the band tearing out and the watch falling off. Replacement bands are about $100. The anodized coating on the band snap is wearing off on the edge after just 1 week. Also, the night-lighting only illuminates the digital section which may be displaying a number of things depending on your current settings. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Looks and works as good as a watch that easily costs 10-20x as much.

Complex- oh yeah. Incredibly useful - absolutely
So, back in 1997 I had bought my first citizen and it was a navihawk. I really loved that watch and this last winter I came across this one and had to have it. For many people I imagine that this watch is overkill. The face has a lot going on. Then there is the "sliderule" bezel on top of it all. Having the slide rule inside the crystal is a good example of the designers getting it right. My older version of this watch left that outer ring exposed, and over time it became worn and really hard to read. If you take the time to learn how to use this feature / tool, it could be a problem. At any rate, this is a fantastic watch. It's kinda redundant I guess to give it "stars" for accuracy, because it synchronizes itself to NIST time via radio which IS accuracy. (I do not know if it is possible to be any more accurate)

Very pleasantly surprised.
I'm a pretty big fan of watches, but have usually avoided Citizen watches due to cost (EcoDrive being the best option of them in my opinion). When I saw the Navihawk go on clearance at 60% off normal price I pretty much had to jump at it. Not going to lie, I figured that it was going to be a damaged watch, used, something wrong with it; but it showed up in pristine order and came in its own little "pelican" case (another pleasant surprise). It may take me a bit to remember how to use the integrated slide rule in the bezel but setting the watch up wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. The only negative I can think of for this watch is that it does not come with a physical manual. There is an app I had to download to register the watch for warranty, and the manual is a download from the app. All in all: great watch, great looking watch, and I am very pleased with my purchase!

Reloj legendario

SPETTACOLO
