This is a cool microscope.
This is much better than the hand-held microscope I was toying with before. At a thousand magnification, I found myself wanting more. This microscope delivers, by far. The first lens brings out the details of things like coins and stamps, the second takes you to 2000 magnification to show you things you may never thought you'd see and at 5000, you find life that you wouldn't see anywhere else. Very cool. The kids have been engrossed and grossed-out by it. They love it too. It's easy to adjust with a couple of knobs and the lighting is bright and versatile. All without busting the budget.

AMAZING!
You cannot go wrong with this scope. I am casually interested in home/science use and I still cannot believe this much tech can be had for this price. The different lenses are overwhelming at first but very intuitive to use once you start using the scope. It's great to have these options. The metal base is sturdy as is the stage (tray) with adjustments and I am happy I got this model. Five professionally prepared slides are included which allowed me to unbox and immediately start getting used to lenses and controls. The file outputs to storage are MP4 (no strange encodes, my Win11 machine reads them fine) and JPG. The included 32GB card is plenty for scope > device transfer. The remote seemed like a luxury when I bought this but now realize it is a must have. The remote keeps the scope still for taking pics and vids where attempting to use the screen buttons does shake the image a bit. Some people have noted you have to switch the power supply for top vs bottom (condenser) illumination. I don't think this is an issue since those changes would typically involve a lens swap which means you are reconfiguring the scope anyway. Some other very minor considerations which, for the price, I'm not complaining just noting. 1. There is no fine focus. Does take a steady hand with the B and C lenses and more so with the M lens. Practice and steadying the hand helps. There is a nice smooth feel and the gears are well greased. 2. The photos have interpolation artifacts (fuzzies) which is to be expected on a digital scope. Settings don't seem to resolve so I stick to native resolutions with default sharpness. I have worked around this with short vids instead (example included). For that reason, I am happy I did not upgrade to the 10" screen. Think of the digital zoom more as framing than zooming. 3. The micro SD card slot is difficult to reach for card removal. I use a pair of metal tweezers to help.

Very good but a little touchy at the mechanical controls.
So far I am impressed with it's capabilities. I have it playing through a 40" screen and that is additionally revealing. The only negative so far is the mechanical imprecision in focusing at high magnification. It's not insurmountable but uses much time trying to keep the target in the optical field while maneuvering the 3 axis (XYZ). I've only used the 3 lens turret but soon will use the single lenses for recording coins in my grandfathers collection passed down to me before sending them off to be graded professionally.

Great scope--with a bit of a bug in the software.
So far, I'm very pleased with this microscope. Trivially easy to set up, easy to use, great feature set, great resolution. A minor drawback is that the video update rate over USB is slow, at least with my hardware, and it's tricky to focus when using high magnification (e.g., when using the "M" lens). A much more serious, though avoidable and correctable, problem is that if you change the file names of images saved on the microsd card, it appears to completely lock up the microscope's operating system. Images saved on the microsd card use date stamps as the basis of their file names, like 2024-0414***-01.JPG. Experimenting, I saved a few images, moved the microsd card to my computer, and renamed the files to something more meaningful to me. But when I moved the microsd back to the microscope and powered it on, the display showed whatever was on the scope stage, but pressing any button on either the remote or the display just made the scope freeze. The only fix was to power the scope off. Moving the microsd card back to the computer and erasing the images made the problem go away. This could, and should, be fixed in the software by the manufacturer. UPDATE REGARDING THE FILENAME ISSUE The manufacturer tells me they'll look into this. They didn't say whether it's a bug just with my scope or is a bug in their coding that affects all of their scopes.

Nice microscope, but the USB feature doesn't work on the unit I received
There's a lot about this microscope that I really like! I can use one lens for soldering, another lens for coins, and the other three lenses will be great for looking at tardigrades and similar microscopic organisms. Yesterday, I got video of a rotifer and I could even see the cilia moving around its mouth as it fed! Pretty impressive! There are lights below and above, which is great. The downside is that there's only one cord. So you have to unplug the power from one place and plug it in somewhere else. That could be an issue over time. The mechanical stage is nice, though one of the knobs is a little loose and has a fair amount of "play". There are a couple of screws that might allow me to fix this, but I haven't tried it yet. I initially had trouble getting the L lens in focus, but I somehow missed the focus ring on the device at first. I had been focusing with the mechanical stage by moving it closer/further from the lens. (Doh!) All the lenses work really well now. Negatives: - The head with 3 lenses (like a traditional compound microscope) is VERY stiff. Turning to a new lens causes parts of the scope to shift/move. This makes it impossible to see something interesting with one lens and then switch to another lens with higher magnification to get a better view, as the image will have shifted a lot. Perhaps the head will loosen up over time. - My biggest problem is that the supplied USB cord to connect to my PC did not work at all. I switched to a new cord and got everything working, but when I tried the same setup again the next day my computer (and my wife's laptop) absolutely cannot connect to it as a camera. (I can connect to it as Mass Storage and transfer videos and images from the SD card.) I keep getting a device malfunction error (43). I contacted Andonstar but it's Chinese New Year and no one will be in the office until the end of the month. :-(

A bargain digital microscope for all users
I bought this Andonstar AD266S (7") digital microscope for my research laboratory to replace my T-mount microscope digital camera ($5000) because of the incompatibility of its IEEE interface with the new computer. So far, I am very pleased with its performance (with multiple lenses) and convenience for use for such a bargain instrument. I have only used its microSD card for image storage. I have noticed an issue: it can only accept a microSD card up to 32 GB. If you try to insert a 64GM, it will repeatedly ask you to format it (even after you format it). I would recommend it for all professional, educational, or amateur users.

Inaccurate website claims
I determined the approximate magnification of all the lenses using a .15 mm wire as the specimen and measuring the magnification distance on the screen. The digital magnification is 2x and not 3x. The high magnification claims are the exaggerated based on the digital 3x claim and another 4x incorrectly added by including a 28 inch monitor for all but the M lens. I got approximate magnifications on the 7 inch screen as follows: A:15-166, L:90-210, B:300, C:700,M:1500. The wide range of magnification for the A lens is not possible because the stage will not raise high enough for a 12 mm distance to the lens. It is 55 mm so the functional range is 6-15x. I wish the stage could be attached to the top of its movement to allow this capability. In that case a focus at 12mm would be achieved. This problem could be addressed by shimming the specimen up about 40 mm off of the stage. It would be appropriate and helpful if Andostar included a dust cover for the microscope and a means to store unused lenses to keep them safe and clean. When I compare a specimen viewed under a cheap light microscope and this microscope, the light microscope is far more clear and lifelike. When using the C lens there there is a conflict where the M lens interferes with the mechanical stage creating a problem. Even with the metal improved design the image is still very wobbly under high magnification. This problem could be solved by shimming the specimen up about a quarter inch above the stage. Both the 10 and 7 inch screens have the same uhd resolution. I will update this post if anything changes. Photo is of .15mm copper wire through B lens. 300x

Great Microscope with many extras and features.
For the money this Microscope is hard to beat in terms of quality and ease of use. It comes with 5 physical lenses in addition up to 3x digital zoom for a huge amount of differemt magnifications starting at 18x and topping out at 5100x. The optics sre very nice at lower magnifications and get dimmer as thje number goes up. This is normal for high mag numbers and although the 2 supplied LED lights are usually up to the task I found myself using a high intensity light I allready had to help illuminate very high mag numbers. The focus is nice but does get very touchy at high mag numbers as expected. Hooking the microscope up to a monitor is pretty straightforward and give a nice full picture, the supplied 7" screen is fine but your monitor is much better. Installation and assembly is easy and the supplied instructions are fairly straightforward. There are lots of pictures which helps as a reference. One final note. When I recieved my 266S digital microscope it was missing a part. this was Amazons fault as the package had been opened. I contacted the Manufacturer customer service instead of Amazon and they replied immediately and shipped the missing part within an hour of me contacting them. Thats how it should be done.

Shaking plates, scratches, inteferances and unadjustable two lights
The quality of the camera deserves two stars. I can tell just the realities that I saw and nothing more. 1. When I adjust the height the microscope plate is shakin and it is not useful when you try to focus on micro level creatures. 2. Scratches on the product. 3.The worst one is interferance between the plate and 0.5mm lens when you try to focus on a 3-4mm object 4. The light control buttons work only when they want. On and off not possible sometimes. 5. Low quality sd card Positives: 1. Nice camera quality 2. Possible to add one more standard lens 20.2mm.( I havent tried it as I dont have but it was written on the cap) 3. Possible to duplicate the 7inch screen with your monitor or TV with HDMI. Summary: It is good product if it is not shaking and had a good quality feeling. However, this device looks like it will be broken.
