Worth it
I don’t usually leave reviews because I can’t be bothered. But this light is genuinely worth it despite the price being a tad more than Godox for example. Yes, you may not get the power plug. But using your USBC brick and cable, the footprint is so small for this light and the quality is on point. My crew was so impressed with the results.

Really Nice, Compact, Portable Light, But Has Issues You Need To Be Aware Of Before Buying
This RC 100B COB video light (Model No. 4893) arrives well packed in a Smallrig branded cardboard box. Inside the box is the video light, a mini-reflector, a light stand adapter, a silicon diffuser, a 3m USB-C to USB-C power cable, and a user manual. The light is well made and has a good finish throughout. It is small, compact and relatively robust. The screen, whilst small, is bright, clear and easy to read. The control dials are also easy to find and manipulate..Controlling the light is straight forward, whether using the manual controls or the app. The multiple ways you can power the light (USB-C Port, DC Power, V-Mount Battery, or via 2 x NP-F970 batteries using an adapter plate), is a real boon. However it should be noted that when using a V-Mount battery, in order to get 100% power output it requires a battery with a capacity more than 98Wh, an output power greater than 120W, and a voltage less than 35V. And when using 2 x NP-F970 batteries via the adapter plate, the power output will be limited to 60%.It’s compact size, relatively light weight (approx 700g/1.5lbs), and ability to be run off. batteries makes this light extremely portable and able to be used both on the movr and in in situations older, larger lights could not be used. The quantity of light is very good and lives up to the claimed 97+ CRI and 98+ TLCI ratings. Given this is a bi-colour light, the 12 included light effects are a bit of a gimmick though, however some people might still find a couple useful. The included mini reflector and silicon diffuser work extremely well, whilst remaining small and compact. The light stand adapter also works well, but feels a little cheap and plasticky.Fan noise is quiet at just 26dB at 1m away, however it is enough to still be noticeable if the light is very close to a mic. There is a silent mode, which reduces the noise to just 18dB, however it also limits the light’s output to 70%.So far so good, however there is an issue to be aware of when buying this light, and that’s all the hidden costs. This light comes with no power source whatsoever. So you will have to supply either an expensive V-Mount battery, a power supply (see below), a PD 100W+ power bank, or buy the optional NP-F970 battery adapter plate in order to use two NP-F970 batteries with it.There is also no case or bag included, so you were require some sort of protective case or bag to carry the light, the diffuser and any attachments that you get for it.If you already own any Bowens Mount compatible modifiers you will need to buy an adapter (see below) in order to use them with this light.Alternatively, if you want to take advantage of the light’s small size, there are currently only three mini-modifiers available, so you will need to purchase these too (see below). The various additional items mentioned above that are available to use with this light are as follows (prices correct as of time of review: 5/25):Smallrig 130W LED Driver for RC 100B (Id: 4854) = Currently unavailable on AmazonSmallrig Bowens Mount Adapter (ID: 4476) = £21.90Smallrig NP-F Battery Plate for RC 100 (ID: 4806) = £24.90Smallrig RA-D30 Mini Parabolic Softbox (ID:4358) = £39.90Smallrig RA-D60 Mini Parabolic Softbox (ID:4682) = £59.90Smallrig RA-R4545 Mini Rectangular Softbox (ID: 4683) = £57.90In conclusion, this is a well made, easy to use 100W video light, that is both extremely versatile and portable. It’s truly impressive how a 100W light has been shrunk into such a small package. It does have a couple issues you need to be aware of though before buying. Firstly, in order to use it at 100% brightness whilst on the move, you are limited to what battery sources you can use as they need to be very high power. And secondly, as noted above, in order to use this light you will most likely need to be buying some additional equipment to go with this light.Whist these issues don’t stop this from being a 5 star product, it does sting a little that the for most people, you are going to have to spend quite a bit more than just the price of this light alone.~ Ethics Statement: Amazon provided me with this product to review and asked in return that I give my honest and impartial opinion about it. That’s what I’ve set out to do in this review, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

Perfect lighting for creators on the go
The SmallRig RC 100B COB Video Light has been a fantastic addition to my setup, and I’ve been genuinely impressed with its performance. Right out of the box, I could tell it was well-built, compact yet sturdy, making it perfect for both home studio use and shoots on the go.One of the standout features for me is the bicolour range, which gives me the flexibility to match different lighting environments seamlessly. The high CRI ensures that colours come out looking natural and professional, something I really appreciate when filming or taking photos. The multiple power options are a huge plus, I love the USB-C PD fast charging capability, and being able to use V-mount batteries is great for portability (though I do wish these accessories were included). The controls are straightforward, whether using the onboard buttons or the app, which makes adjusting settings remotely super convenient.Another feature I didn’t expect to love so much is the standard Bowens mount, it’s made it really easy to swap out different modifiers to get the exact look I want. Plus, the quiet cooling fan is a thoughtful touch, ensuring my recordings remain free from unwanted noise. If I had to nitpick, I’d say it would’ve been nice if SmallRig included a carrying case and power adapter, but honestly, given the overall quality and performance of this light, I can’t complain too much. For anyone looking for a reliable, portable, and high-quality video light, this one is worth considering.

One very annoying feature
It’s a great little light works well battery life is terrible you may get 20mins at 100%, but the most annoying thing about this light is powering it from the mainsSo it charges the internal battery and a fan comes on to cool the unit. Fine…. But when the light if “off” and fully charged the fan never turns offs. It might sound silly but for me I like to leave my lighting rig with mains power plugged in so I can come in , flick the power switch on each light and then get to work.On this you simply can’t. Or you risk burning out the fan.I would lightly suggest a different light. Build quality it great and consistent with most small rigs products, a small rig 11in magic arm will not support this arm either. Again food for thought.
