Easy Natural Selenium — Just Don’t Eat Too Many
I bought the NUT CRAVINGS Raw Broken Brazil Nuts 16oz mainly for the health benefits and paid about $13 for the 1-lb bag, which feels like a good value. Brazil nuts are one of the best natural sources of selenium, which is important for thyroid health, especially for us dealing with conditions like Hashimoto’s, inflammation, and immune issues. Instead of taking selenium supplements, I prefer getting it from real food. Just about 2 Brazil nuts provide the recommended daily selenium amount. One important thing people should know is not to eat too many. Brazil nuts are extremely high in selenium, so more than a couple a day can give you too much selenium, which can cause symptoms like nausea, hair thinning, or other issues if overdone. The nuts come raw, unsalted, and shelled in a resealable bag. Since they’re broken in halves, the sizes vary, but the quality is good. The texture is firm with a slightly creamy bite, and they don’t taste overly dry. I also give a couple to my son daily for added heath. They taste good alone, but I also like adding them to yogurt, smoothies, or protein shakes. Crushing them slightly adds a nice nutty flavor and crunchy texture to snacks. Great value. Highly recommend.

NUT CRAVINGS - Raw Broken Brazil Nuts, Unsalted. I like the taste of Brazil nuts anyway, but I need them for selenium for thyroid. These are fresh and great, and not tiny pieces. Just received my 2nd bag; I'll be buying more for sure. I keep them in the refrigerator; maybe not necessary, but I take no chances on them getting the "Stale Brazil" taste! Well packaged, fast delivery, great seller. Just right. EDIT: Jan 2026 $11.67, Feb 2026 $11.67, Mar 2026 $17.97 ??? is that a 54% increase? I can't justify that price. Sorry.
