Malted milk? Malted brewing? Malt candies?
I admit it. I love the malt flavor, from malted milk to Robin's Eggs candy. Malt is also important if you are going to brew your own at home. Malt is a cereal grain (most commonly barley) that has been soaked in water to sprout, then dried with hot air to stop the growth. It can be fermented, generally mixed with other grains. (Beer, whiskey, malt vinegar, etc.) This extract tastes like good quality malt. This is a handy size for cooking or mixing with other flavors. It is sufficient for experimenting. Introduce your children to a tall ice cream malted milk with 2 straws, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.

Unexpected flavor in baked goodies
I ordered this Briess - 812322 - Dry Malt Extract - Golden Light - 1 lb to try my hand at using malt in my baking. Holy macaroni and cheese is it a game changer! The flavor is phenomenal and totally delicious. A bit...marshmallow-y and old fashioned. I don't think I'll ever be without a bag of Briess malt in the pantry again. It dissolves pretty easily in warm liquid (little whisking does wonders!). This time I had "Golden Light". Now I need to try their other flavor profiles. Yum!
