Can this be used outdoors?

All epoxy resins will yellow outdoors in time even with uv protection. Although uv protection helps it does not eliminate yellowing. Most companies claim it will but research companies say otherwise.

Can you use this for casting projects? For example making knobs for cabinets.

I went on their website countertopepoxy.com and got their phone # talked to their customer service and ordered my colors. I didn't use it on a wood inlay but it looks like you can do that.

Can you use this over poly u? Or is stained wood the better method?

Should not use over poly finishes or stains. Water based stains seem to be ok. Wood should should be free from any kind of oil contamination. I have used as float coat over hatch cover tables.I first sand blast the wood then burn the wood and brush off burned area to desired color. Always have good results with this proceedure. ( hatch covers have a lot of oil contamination )
