Good value for nostalgic game play
Worked great. Come with only a few generic games. Be prepared to load your own ROM library. Plenty of good YouTube videos. It’s a nostalgia machine for sure. I’ve loaded up all my favorite childhood games, the ones I wanted but never got and the classics for each console. Remember to fully power down the unit and the battery life is great. If left in sleep it dies quickly. Screen is much larger than originals which is handy for my 40yr old eyes. Unit size is portable but not what I would call pocketable. The sound quality is a little rough, but headphones makes up for it. Overall I would say it’s a great system for adults and a good value.

Excellent emulator handheld -- my personal go-to!
Anbernic has a ton of these handheld emulator devices on the market now. Some people get annoyed by this, but I would always rather have more options than fewer, and the 40XXV is a home-run in my book. It's rocking the same H700 Allwinner CPU you find in all of their XX devices, which will play every system from Atari all the way up through Dreamcast/PSP, though not the entire library of those systems. You probably won't want to use this for PSP due to the screen's aspect ratio, but for DC and below it's outstanding (I hear some heavy DC games don't run smoothly on this thing, but every DC game I've tried has worked fine). The controls are fantastic -- and this is coming from someone who has about a dozen of these kinds of devices from different companies. The D-pad is sublime -- my favorite of them all -- and the face buttons feel great to use. Even the angling of the triggers are great. A lot of people whine about this thing having a single joystick. Personally I think it's awesome because 1) I'm not a huge fan of FPSes anyway, which is the main use for a second stick, and 2) the systems this plays either use 1 joystick (MAME, N64), or no joystick at all. Even PS1 rarely used the sticks. Yes, the out-of-box (OOB) stick has the famous Anbernic cardinal snapping issue, but installing the latest build of MuOS or Knulli eliminates this problem. I can understand someone saying that the OOB experience should be better for something that costs money, but if you're seriously into this hobby at all you know that custom firmware (CFW) is the name of the game... it is what it is. The screen is a smidge under 4", which is big, bright, and great for anything you want to run on it. 4:3, 3:2, 8:7, even vertical arcade, all run great once you tinker with Retroarch a little. Sound is loud as heck at first and the rocker appears to need individual presses to raise/lower the volume (i.e., press and hold only registers one press, at least on mine), but that's a minor gripe. Not sure if that's the device or MuOS, which is the CFW I use on it. Like most of these devices, some tinkerage is required to get a great experience and a lot of times the "value" judgments for these things are based on how close you can force it to get to that "perfect" (for the individual user) experience you're after. For me, the chunky vertical form factor, big bright screen, single stick, amazing buttons, ability to run some of the best CFWs out there, and nice blue color get it done. Half the reason you get these things is to mess around under the hood to see what you can make it do, and this one is close to perfect for me.

Premo stuff
I switched from their SP clone because the hinge had a little play and it was driving me nuts, also I only play at home so I don’t need to protect the screen in my pocket. Random stuff that works on the SP doesn’t work on this by default and requires tweaking. The n64 doesn’t really work, if you fix one thing another breaks. Without adjusting the joystick deadzone it’s like holding onto a fishes mouth, then if you fix that the game crashes, if you find a way around that the video glitches, eventually you just have to pretend like you’re doing more than turning the device on and off…there are not enough options in the world. I’d say the device is fine. Retro gaming isn’t, if ya catch my drift.

Adults deserve fun, too!
Bought this for my wife last year and she is obsessed!! She takes it on all our international flights and entertains herself the whole way. It is so much sturdier and better quality than I thought, we've had no issues and the battery life is surprisingly good. The nostalgia is worth the price, especially when you get a quality product. If you're on the fence, do it! Life's too short not to play some games

This is a '90s 2000s kids ideal game boy like experience!
This thing is amazing! I have been on a nostalgic trip for the past week and couldn't bring myself to try and hunt for a game boy color and a handful of game boy games. I came across this in a review on YouTube, took a chance and bought it. This has been the best purchase I have made in a long while. It took some time to figure out how to put my ROM games in this SD card but it was as easy as just dragging the games to their respective folders. There was no need to figure out how to download the emulators onto the SD card. It automatically picked the emulators and I started to play the games. Even though I bought this with the intention of playing game boy color and game boy advance pokémon games. This thing allows me to potentially play PSP games, PlayStation 1 games and so much more. I can't wait for Christmas to roll around and for me to hand this out to my brothers as a Christmas present. If you're looking for a game boy-like device and already have ROM games, this is the device for you.
