Discover the never-before-told story of the ruthless shadow race between Microsoft and Google, as both compete to develop a mass-market AI while juggling existential questions of ethics, human progress and the future of the world as we know it. "They declined his offer too, not realizing how much the thin-skinned Musk didn’t like it when people said no. Soon enough though, Hassabis got another email. This time, it was from Google." When ChatGPT was released, the world changed overnight. Even as we all played with the new toy, a very real danger was quickly coming to light: that untested automations would undermine our way of life insidiously, sucking value out of our economy, replacing high-level creative jobs and enabling a new, terrifying era of disinformation. It was never meant to be this way. The founders of the two companies behind the most advanced AIs in existence – Open AI (ChatGPT) and DeepMind (Bard) – started their journeys determined to solve humanity’s greatest problems. But they couldn’t develop their technologies without huge amounts of money – money that Microsoft and Google were more than happy to give them, in exchange for the most powerful seats at the table. From award-winning journalist Parmy Olson, Supremacy is the astonishing, untold, behind-the-scenes story of the battle between two AI companies, their struggles to use their tech for good, and the dangerous direction that they’re now going in. Featuring a cast of larger-than-life characters, including Elon Musk, Larry Page, Sergey Brin and Peter Thiel, Supremacy is a story of manipulation, exploitation, secrecy and of ruthless, relentless human progress – progress that will impact all of us for years to come. Review: Good read on AI. - This is such a good book. I wanted to finish it on one go. It intelligently intertwines the history, the development, the politics, everything in a very beautiful and engaging story. The writing is very lucid and easy to read by. We are going to learn a lot of things and I especially learnt how these organizations work and how these high-performance people like Sam Altman and Elon Musk think. I got a little peek inside their brain, I can say that . Review: Good

Found it interesting and informative. AI is going to change the world and it has to be regulated. This book shows why it has been difficult to do so...

Undoubtedly one of the best book I have read
A masterful and deeply engaging exploration of the high-stakes race to dominate the world of AI. Through meticulous research and compelling storytelling, Olson paints a vivid picture of the key players – Sam Altman of OpenAI and Demis Hassabis of DeepMind – and the intense rivalry driving the AI revolution. She deftly weaves together the personal narratives of these visionary leaders with the broader implications of their work, exploring the ethical dilemmas, the influence of Big Tech "Leviathans," and the profound potential – and perils – of advanced AI. In doing so, Olson transforms a complex technological narrative into a captivating human drama. What truly sets this book apart is Olson's exceptional writing style. She doesn't just present facts; she crafts a compelling narrative, drawing the reader into the heart of the AI race with the skill of a seasoned storyteller. Her ability to humanize the technology and the individuals behind it makes this book not just informative, but utterly absorbing. This is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the forces shaping our future."

Attention is All you need"の執筆者は、現在のAIを牽引する企業に散らばり、 一人はChatGPT開発の中心人物です。 タイトルの...,and the raceには、本書に登場する企業のrace to build AGI(Artificial General Intelligence)だけでなく、human raceに対するAIのサイバネティックス的な意味も暗示しているのでしょうか。
