WILD tumeric, not tumeric; colorant & toner
This is an 8oz bag of fine yellow/orange powder from the roots of the Wild Tumeric plant, Curcuma Aromatica--not to be confused with the Tumeric plant, Curcuma Longa. The Wild Tumeric plant is traditionally used as a food colorant (yellows, of course), and a flavoring for condiments; the wild version actually has a bit more flavor than the domesticated Tumeric, with a herbal, ginger-type of taste to it. It contains a bunch of volatile oils and chemically active compounds like curcumin--definitely worth looking up online, since reviews aren't allowed to give medical information. As for applying this as a paste to the skin--do it at night, in a clean space like a bathroom, and only leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, just as the instructions on the bag say. Make sure you have dish soap or an exfoliant on hand in case your skin takes natural dye more easily, so you can remove the pigmentation, but generally this will NOT leave a color behind in your skin. However, you should do a test swatch on your skin where it won't be publicly visible, just to check how your own skin takes it. Also, if you have a very high iron content in your water, that will act as a dye mordant (a fixative, making dye last longer) which might actually stain your skin. SO, test the effect, and if you don't find a lasting stain, then this is a very nice toner for facial skin with lots of neat beneficial compounds. If you do find that it stains your skin too much, just take it to the kitchen instead and use it in things like yellow rice (saffron alternative), curry, etc. This powder comes from India and the distributor provides their full contact information, including address, email and phone number. The batch I received in August, 2024 has an expiration date of March, 2026. It came in a small bag inside a resealable, heat-sealed bag, and the labels are in clear, coherent English.

Okay
Iโm using on my face pack but itโs usually same as Costco turmeric!

great results
As opposed to regular Turmeric powder, which I use in cooking and which does have a unique flavor, Kasturi (Wild) Turmeric powder is much more fragrant (!) - I felt it even through the plastic packaging it came in (which was inside the pouch with label and description). I love that sort of flowery scent. The first thing I did, I transferred the powder into a sturdy and clean plastic container with a lid, while also enclosing a scoop in there - for this particular use. The directions on the Details Page are a bit different than on the package - where it says to mix Turmeric with water to make a paste. On Details Page, it also says to add some Gram flower to the mix (which is chickpea flour). It probably makes a more uniform paste that way. So I did that and made a paste with some water. I wish the package enclosed a brush, but I had an extra one, so I used it to apply the paste on my face. That way my hands never got messy. I waited 15 minutes, as directed, and with a help of a very sturdy and thick tissue, meant especially for such clean ups, washed my face. My skin was pleasantly tingling and very, very smooth, even after one application. It didn't tint my skin, even though my skin is rather white (I always wear sunscreen when going out). I then applied my moisturizer. So, the result is great. I am planning to repeat it once a week. I know that Turmeric has excellent antiseptic properties, and that's great for skin health. I also must say that I do like masks made of such simple and natural ingredients, as this one!... Product of India, which I consider home of Turmeric, as it goes in almost all Indian dishes :).

Good quality turmeric
Good price for the bag of Turmeric powder to use in face products. I am not sure how effective it is but I've used in some masks we've made for fun around here. The quality of the powder is fine and soft. I'm not sure how effective it is at helping with pores or acne without using it for a greater time frame.

It seemed like a good idea at the time
I have very oily skin so I'm always looking for new skin care products that might help. I was interested to try this powder since I take turmeric for joint pain and know it has a lot of amazing properties. Well, perhaps this one was not one of those amazing properties! The powder comes in a smaller bag inside the resealable bag. Once it is opened, the dark orange powder tends to fly everywhere. I mixed it with water, as instructed, to make a thin paste and spread it over my face. In the meantime, I washed it off my hands -- or tried to. It did stain my hands slightly (it came off with soap), but I became alarmed and didn't leave it the fully recommended 15 minutes on my face. I was also afraid to move from the sink while it was on my face in case some of it fell off and stained the carpeting. I rinsed my face well with soap and water (fearful of staining a washcloth) and even then a bit of the orange color came off on my face towel. I do see a slight discoloration on my skin, but perhaps it's just because I was worried I would! My skin feels clean and soft after rinsing it off, but that may just be the effect of several rinses with soap and water! If you need a slight self-tan, this might be for you. Otherwise, I think it's too messy and discoloring to be used on a regular basis.
