Question 1

3 ton for each stand or is it the combined capacity of the pair?

Accepted Answer

Packaging and manual included with these stands, states that each strand is rated for 3 tons (6000 lbs) or 5 tons (10,500 lbs) when used in pairs.

It also says you have to use them in pairs on the same axle, NOT on the same side of the vehicle... It says do NOT use only one stand, that two stands are required or damage to the stands can occur.

So the answer to your question is yes and NO... yes they are rated at 3 tons each but can only be safely used as a pair for a max rated of 5 tons per pair... meaning each stand will hold 2.5 tons (5000 lbs). At least that is the information included with the product I received. Which can be confusing and seems misleading when you look what others have stated is the max rating for these stands.

Question 2

Are these much a much better design compared to the 4 leg cheaper jack stands?

Accepted Answer

I have homemade set the difference is made from heavy gauge steel with large sqaure 1/4-inch plate. Whoever made them actually knows how to weld. As you said much better design think I'll grab a set.

Question 3

Will this hold my 4000lb Lexus for changing rims? Plan on using 1 jack stand.

Accepted Answer

These jacks will hold 3 tons or 6,000 pounds. Since you won’t be holding the entire weight of your vehicle you should be fine. These are great light weight jacks for tire changes and auto maintenance too.

Question 4

Can anyone recommend a good pinch weld pad for this jack stand for use on a Pilot and Ridgeline?

Accepted Answer

I'll be honest I've never had to use a jack or jack stand on a pinch weld point. For one there is no reason to when most vehicals have plenty of points to jack from and stabilise from that are super structurally sound to begin with. So unfortunately all I can say is there is no reason to waste cash on those pinch pads if you jack from good points like the frames naturally strong points to begin with.
