Quiet and cool. Looks great in my room and really cleans up the air. One point to think of in case you’re not used to lifting, it is heavy and yet nice to relocate for special reasons. So I bought a nice garden dolly with wheels, like you might use under heavy potted plants. That works great. So I can have it in the kitchen when I’m cooking and in my bedroom when I’m sleeping. I really like this unit and feel confident that it is well made to last. Have had for many weeks and no problems at all. Mechanics are easy to learn.

I have purchased two of these machines over the past four years. When I first purchased it, I loved it so much. I purchased one for my elderly parents. The issue I have with this machine is that the cost of replacing the filter with the light adds up quickly in addition to the fact that the light has burnt out two separate times over the last two months, which leads me to believe that this machine is no longer functioning. The cost of the filter with the light add up very quickly, and the fact that the price of the machine has increased so much. I will not be buying another one. This is a serious investment and if you’re looking for something that works for a little while, then this is your machine otherwise I would purchase something else.

We have been using our Germ Guardian for a while without any problems. We started looking for a new air purifier after finding out some of the poor electrical wiring and potential fire hazard from the Germ Guardian. What made us choose this unit? 1. We have 2 cats in the house and my wife has allergic issues with the cat hairs so we constantly find ourselves needing to keep the air purifiers on. 2. There are several trees outside of our home that produces a lot of pollen in the spring/summer that makes it difficult for us to open our windows for the fresh air. 3. We have a townhome with each floor space less than 1000 square feet which means we don’t need a huge air purifier that can cover 2000 to 3000 square feet of space. The selling feature for us was the “auto mode”, which means the air purifier uses its sensor to adjust the fan speed and how hard it works based on the air quality in the house. This means we can turn it on and leave it on 24/7. We can monitor the air quality through the air quality index (AQI) via their mobile app. This is a big difference from our previous air purifier since we only turned it on based on how we felt. It is also a very quiet unit as for the most part we haven’t had the need to turn the fan beyond level 3. For the most part the AC unit. and desk fans are much louder in the house. The only small knock we have is that you have to install the filter and lamp laying the unit on its side which is a bit awkward, however, it is not a huge deal and the installation instructions were quite clear.

It is funny how direct the marketing is for this in stating that it is not just a fan pulling air through a HEPA filter. In truth, that is the primary thing that this (and any good air filter) is. However, owning some "smart" air filters and some more basic ones, I do like this type with air quality sensors more. In terms of aesthetics, this is superior to some. The top display and fan grille look particularly nice. At the same time, the overall look is still that clinical plastic style that is common among air purifiers. I don't mind it, but someone more concerned with room design may want to keep it in a side room. It pulls enough air to work well outside of a main living space. The best part of a modern air purifier is the automated fan speed. If the air is already clean, it only pulls a gentle and nearly silent breeze through. When I am cooking or cleaning and kicking up dust, it automatically increases air flow (and noise). This adds a lot of practical functionality, keeping the air pleasant and allergen free without staying noisy all the time. The UV light and other features are less important, but nice to have. The app is not useful only because the automatic fan speed means that it requires no scheduling or babysitting. One problem that I find surprisingly deal-breaking is that this does not turn back on after a power failure. This means that it can leave the house with poor air for long periods without me knowing what happened. Since it is normally so quiet, a brief power failure can cause it to be off for weeks before I notice. This is a major flaw, in my opinion. It should just turn back on when the power returns. The price on this is definitely in the premium range, and it certainly does a good job at cleaning the air. While I have found it a bit risky to use unless I keep an eye on it to make sure it is still on, it is otherwise recommended.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have purchased 4 of these units. I raise dachshunds and use them in my kennel and home. 3/4 work great. However, one of them quit working after only about a month or 2. Very disappointing considering I paid the normal price and not the sale price.
