Sony DCR-HC27 Handycam Mini DV Camcorder

This is fantastic value for money. It's tiny, simple and easy to use!It's a quality product, brilliantly made. I don't think you'd find one better for the money!As for everyone moaning about Sony not providing a blank tape in the box with it.... I have never bought a camcorder or camera that has provided tapes or decent memory cards. So any idiot that buys it and doesn't bother to buy tapes, deserves to be disappointed!I thoroughly recommend this! Top notch!

I bought this item for my boyfriend for xmas so that we could record our son`s 2nd christmas, I charged it up previous to giving it to my boyfriend so that we were all ready for xmas morning..... What a disappointment !!!! No cassettes, couldn`t use it at all, ruined, you would think that Sony could afford to include a cassette to put you on, of course, everything was closed over xmas and the cassettes arrived today, 03/01/08, missed xmas and the New Year, not pleased with Sony at all. Spoilt our xmas and really has changed my view of Sony.

Was good to start with but malfunctioned after 2 tears of careful use, to expensive to repair.

Bought this camcorder for my son, so imagine his dissapointment when the screen remained blank during playback. we have tried using other tapes and friends tapes but the problem remained. Amazon were excellent in their response and a new camcorder arrived days later. this worked for about two minutes before the screen also went blank. It seems to record fine as the tape counter does its job but on playback the screen stays blue and the counter does not move even though the tape is turning. Amazon have been proactive throughout but i'm afraid this item has lost a potential owner as we have now asked for a full refund and will not be buying sony camcorders again.

I ordered this as a xmas present and choose gift wrapping and express delivery, once again Amazon were true to their word and my package arrived on xmas eve morning, the recipient of this camcorder is pleased beyond all expectations, what a wonderful little camcorder this is, simple to use straight out of the box, Amazon and many online sellers have received lots of bad press lately but I have always had excellent service and never been disappointed with any article I have purchased.Well done Sony for a cracking little camcorder and well done Amazon for really putting the icing on the cake for our christmas.

I received this for Christmas, charged it up ready to go, switched it on and was miffed! No cassette is supplied with this at all and no cable (firewire) to upload to PC either, which to be honest I would have thought was the most basic things they could have included in the box, hence only 4 stars from me!Apart from that what I can make out from it, its a beautiful design, small, compact with rich features - but you must make sure to buy accessories (cassettes) or its useless (and a firewire if you plan on uploading and editing on PC).If anyone wants one of these for editing on PC then get the HC47 as this HC27 is not initially PC friendly (no cable included) and doesn't have a memory card option either.

genuinely astonished at how quickly this arrived..bough at 10pm on a Thurs evening and it arrived the following Monday (4 days later!! and this was a week before Christmas!! honestly couldn't believe how quickly it was delivered!! the camera case was a little dusty but after a quick wash it was perfect. Seller also included 8 or 9 tapes!! very impressed..:)) the camera itself is fantastic, very easy to use, working perfectly, with no faults or marks present. Have only had to charge it once when it arrived and its been very busy over the Christmas season. The picture quality is fantastic..overall very happy with goods and with service of seller..would definitely recommend

Very simple to use, does most things 'out of the box' with no need for much user input beyond switching it on, pointing & pressing the REC button (its in red for maximum ease of spotting!)There are the usual options to change things like effects for how pictures look etc but really this is for people who just want to video, with some simple menu options which are quick to learn.Its light, small & fits nicely into one hand. Its quite well made too.Couple of points to note: there is no editing software included (use Windows Media Centre or Photo Gallery) nor is there any cable to link your camcorder to your PC.Both these omissions are unusual & seem a bit cheap of SONY, for which I've deducted 1 star.You do get a short 'how to shoot videos' DVD which - once you ignore the childish & annoying cartoon 'guide' - is actually quite useful.(the lack of any bundled cassette is normal industry practise)Using a firewall cable I've found the video transfer to my PC (running Windows VISTA) painless & fairly quick.All in all a good buy which I purchased from Debenhams in Birmingham for just £130 a couple of weeks ago.
