I bought them for my daughter for wrestling and seems to be as long as you take care of them they should last a long time.

Can these be used when playing the trumpet?

Yes. My daughter plays clarinet and her director even recommended her a product similar to this.

Can you eat with these on?

I have but it's more of a mess because food gets stuck in between. I would not suggest eating with them on.
