Monkey's Fist Paperback – September 29, 2011

A fascinating, informative and provocative book that opened the door for me on a world I know very little about. I have great admiration not only for Jerry Vogler's wonderful service in working with gangs but also his courage in comparing, quite appropriately as it turns out, the actions of governments with those of gangs. I learned so much from this book, and even though some of the stories of the boys in the book are troubling and sad they never slip into complete despair due to Jerry Vogler's approach in detailing the backgrounds and details about each boy's case and his sensitive, caring guidance with the teenagers. My preferred reading is usually fiction, but this non-fiction account of Jerry Vogler's experiences was riveting and full of revelations. Thanks and bravo to Jerry Vogler for making a difference in a very troubled world and for this marvelous book.
