Great timer, works in many top mount refrigerators. You do have to understand where to place the black wire. If you don't know call a pro.

Was easy to install

I can't speak to the durability of this item yet but it installed very easily and fit the screw holes in my fridge. It doesn't come with any instructions so the question everyone asks is, "Where does the black wire go?". The answer is, well it depends. Take a look at the wire harness that the timer plugs into. If the plug has the following wire colors that correspond to the terminal/prong numbers labeled on the timer: 1-black, 2-pink, 3-red, 4-orange then the black wire goes on the #2 terminal. If the plug has the following: 1-orange, 2-pink, 3-white, 4-red then the black wire goes on the #1 terminal. Mine came with the wire already installed on #2 terminal and I had to move it to #1 terminal. This copper connector that goes on the terminal is VERY fragile so be very careful if you have to remove it off of one terminal and move to another. I used a small flat head screw driver to gently remove it but you could use various other tools. Hope this info helps.

Product worked well and fixed my fridge. There was a black wire that was on this one that was not on the OEM Whirlpool part, but after reading the wiring diagram it indicated where it should be and the wire was already placed on the pin that it should be one.

Fixed the freezer. Build quality seems good.

I received the Bluestars Ultra durable refrigerator defrost timer on 22 November; on 24 December I noticed that the refrigerator was no longer defrosting automatically and manually set it to defrost and ordered a replacement. Prior to installing I marked the manual rotating shaft to see if the timer was running without removing the module. After removing the module, the motor resistance was 8.3K ohms and connecting it to 120VAC 60Hz it drew 13mA at 1.74 watts. But I could see the motor wasn’t turning through the clear plastic housing. Thumping it with my finger wouldn’t get it to run, but a sharp rap with the handle of a screwdriver started it running. It then ran for about 5 minutes and stopped. I am returning this timer as defective and replacing it with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DW8SFKZ which seems to be slightly better quality.

The problem was an older top-freezer fridge that would freeze its coils behind the back wall of the freezer compartment every 4-6 months or so. I tried defrosting it manually but it would end up freezing over again until the fan could no longer move, which would prevent the lower fridge compartment from cooling. The way most of these top-freezer refrigerators work is that the coils that remove heat are located behind the back wall of the freezer. These remove heat from the freezer compartment and there is also a fan that circulates the cold air down to the fridge compartment. However, these coils also freeze moisture from the air so they build up ice on the coils, so there is a defrost function that periodically melts the ice using a heating unit. The defrost heater runs depending on a thermostat attached to the coils (this part) and a defrost timer part, usually located in the fridge control section. In the case of the fridge I was working on, the original thermostat had come apart and the top part had completely popped out of the metal casing. I wired a replacement thermostat in place of the original thermostat and also pre-emptively replaced the defrost timer controller using this part. The defrost timer was located in the light bulb compartment at the top of the fridge compartment. After popping that off, the time is connected with slide-on metal quick connects so the old one is easily removed and then this new replacement attached in its place. Took about 5 minutes. So far so good, it has been several months and the freezer has not frozen over again.

Installed 02/01/21 , Just checked Temp. @ everything is working Great. Not hard to change it, as once you open the Cover - Unplug the Timer @ Replace with new Timer. Defrost is working.
