I use in my pit boss smoker. It has good flavor and doesn’t make too much ash that I noticed. I usually mix with a different wood for optimal flavor

A little bit like cooking on a charcoal grill

I may not be using it as you might expect. I like to make my own biochar. In order to do so I need to use 100% hardwood charcoal with no fillers, fuels or other additives. I bought the lump charcoal from this brand before to do it but I have found these pellets are the perfect size for what I use it for. The price is fantastic. The product is high quality. I let them soak in fish emulsion, compost tea and mix in composted manure and worm castings. I throw in some potassium based watwr storing crystals to charge aling side the biochar. Layer some cardboard, grass clipping and natural sponge pieces. I have a secret ingredient I add that inoculates it with a variety of microorganisms that are soil builders. This year's garden is exploding with growth and resilient to these dog days of summer. Less watering and I haven't noticed a problem with bad fungus or other diseases or even bug pests except the usual slugs and snails.

Does what it says it should do, however not suitable for Lotus grills (indoor, smokeless grills). These pellets are physically too small, causing the Lotus Grill to be too hot, burning too quickly. In addition, these create too much smoke since they clog the charcoal basket.

THE BEST! A lot of stores near me have stopped carrying Charcoal Pellets. I find this brand to EXCELLENT and worth the extra price.

If you want that charcoal taste these are awesome. I mix 50/50 with my apple wood pellets
