Works well
We have a small pool, not long enough to get a good workout. I actually considered an endless pool machine, but this is costly and as we rent the house for short term rentals, I was reluctant to add yet one more gadget that could malfunction or could be a liability, just for my use. This works surprisingly well. I think it is easier to swim in place than swimming in an large pool, but for my purposes, it allowed me to use my small pool for exercise, rather than just for dipping. I plan to just ramp up the speed in order to bring my heart rate up. The only thing I would change is to lengthen the tether. I have a railing which is 3 feet from the edge of the pool and the tether didn't reach far enough to allow me to be in the center of the pool and for my legs to not be kicking against the side wall. I borrowed my husbands resistance band, then went out and ought 2 long bungee cords with carabiner ends to lengthen it. The belt fits comfortably and it was loose enough to turn from swimming prone to swimming a back stroke with ease. The tether should be mounted at least 3 feet above the deck, so that it is out of the way when you swim.

Great quality, rope is just the right length for pool therapy
I purchased this after using the pool belt at water therapy. I don't swim, I jog in place with it. I purchased this particular belt because other reviewers were complaining the leash part was too short. The leash on the pool belt is too long and I felt I was inhibiting the other members from their workouts. It is super comfortable and easily adjusts to various sized waists. The red belt and dark leash helps to warn other members that there is a rope across the part of the pool that I am using. The pool leash is light colored and people run into it all the time. The strange thing is that I have bone on bone hip and walking the width of the pool hurts my hip, but I can easily run in place and my hip doesn't hurt. The best thing is the result of jogging. I have lost 12 pounds in just a few weeks!

Works, but NOT like regular swimming
I've used this about eight times so I can review its' function. Using this item does work. This particular equipment is functional and seems to be of pretty good quality, including the belt and bungee cord. The belt adjusts easily and is reasonably comfortable with no pinching. The buckle seems to work flawlessly. It is true, as other reviewers noted, that if you tie it off at any distance from the edge of the pool, you will need to attach a longer cord. I did that once and it seemed to work ok. So, my 4 star rating is mostly based upon the functionality of this item. However, for those who have never swam in place...and I imagine it is most people considering this item or a similar one.... it is NOT like regular swimming. Here are three differences that I have noticed. 1) The most important difference is it is HARDER. In swimming laps, you glide along the top of the water. With this you are working against the bungee cord that is constantly pulling you back. So, you ARE working harder than regular swimming. So, if you are used to swimming laps. don't be surprised you can't go as long before. I've had to adjust my times and I'm now beginning to get used to it. 2) As someone else noted here, the cord tends to pull your legs and feet under water. You may find yourself, more or less, using you legs and feet not for swimming but for trying to stay afloat or maintaining your floating posture on top of the water. Again, more work. You can sometimes find a few seconds of balance to actually kick your feet like normal swimming, but I can't do it for long. I find myself using my legs to bring my lower body back up to the top of the water. Someone also said if you tie the stationary end up high, it will help this issue. I tried it two feet higher than usual, which is about one foot above the water, but the extra two feet didn't seem to help much. But, maybe it is more beneficial if it is up, say five or six feet. Keep this in mind, when you try it out. 3) Finally, during normal swimming, the bubbles you breath out flow past you and your goggles or mask. In swimming in place, the bubbles come right up in your face. I admit this is not as significant difference as the previous two, but it can be annoying or at least distracting to some degree. Also, my goggles seem to cloud up more often, and I wonder if the bubbles have anything to do with it (?) In summary, this item seems to be well made and it is functional. It will allow you to swim in place. However, be aware swimming in place is different from normal swimming, and, in fact, is harder. I image using one of the expensive swimming machines that generates a current to swim against might be a little harder too since you are working against the flow. You wouldn't have your legs being pulled down by anything but the tremendous difference in cost seems to make this belt an acceptable alternative.

useful when you don't have a lap pool
very useful when i couldn't do open water swim or go to a full sized pool. used this on vacation when i was training for an ironman and only has access to a short backyard pool. definitely not the best solution but a solid alternative if you can't swim laps. affects body position on how it pulls on you but you learn to adapt to it.

Turns Any Pool into a Lap Pool!
I purchased this in the hopes it would allow me to do laps in the small pool I can currently use and it worked! It feels a bit strange at first but the tether is very east to use and basically lets you swim continuously in a small space. I use it for doing breaststroke and crawl and my husband has used it for crawl and backstroke. We both are very happy with it. Given the length of the cord, you can drift to the side a little but this has not been an issue. Much less expensive than some of the more elaborate tether systems out there and totally portable, no installation required. I am not a triathlete and a more complicated set-up would probably be better for them, but if you are just a regular lap swimmer, this is fantastic.

Works well, even tethered low
I wanted to swim for exercise in our small pool and this device does the trick. It’s easy to use, bungee is long enough for what I need. Some indicated it might have to be tethered high in order to keep your body level with the water, but I’m tethered a few inches above the water and it works well for me. Your exhaled bubbles float into your goggles/face rather than float past you in a normal swimming fashion, but I got used to that quickly.

Love this tether! I have gone through about 4-5. My TYR was very good, but very expensive. The other ones lasted either 1 year or my last, 5 months. This one I love because it is incredibly strong, it has a double rope that is attached. I think it has a straightening ability for me. I usually use a puck on the bottom of the pool to keep me straight, but I have not been using it. The tether part is not elastic at all, it takes getting used to, but now I love it! It’s very comfortable and I love the way the band attached - it’s a large push button clip in. Easy to manage with one hand not looking, under water. You may need another rope attached to it to get the perfect length.
