Acme Metropolitan Police Whistle

I LOVE the sound of this whistle! If you like the sound of a British Police whistle, this is it. It has a mellow tone and can be blown louder to get more attention. But it's not super loud. If you're looking for a safety whistle, something that is easy to blow and and is very loud and shrill to get attention, look elsewhere. For a safety whistle, I recommend the Acme 636 Safety Whistle (I have one). The 636 is smaller, louder, and less expensive. If you like the look and feel of a Acme police whistle, another possibility is the Ladies version of the Acme police whistle--the engraving says "The Acme City": compared to its bigger brother, it's smaller (2 5/8" x 1/2" compared to 3 1/8" x 5/8"). It's more shrill and it's a nicer size to put on a key ring (I have one of these whistles, too!). For more than you ever wanted to know about whistles... As a fun sideline to my activity as a serious soccer referee, I collect whistles, mostly those that are suitable to use on a soccer field. For me, a referee whistle: 1) must be easy to blow, 2) can produce loud volume, if I want to blow it loud, 3) gets the attention of the players (i.e., they complain about the volume and shrillness of the whistle), 4) has a sound/pitch that is pleasant or at least tolerable to my ears, and 5) has a maximum decibel level that is not harmful to my ears (a few whistles have a decibel level of 120 decibels, a level that is at the entry level for danger to hearing).

Over the top boys!!!! After seeing these at a shop, I imagined the throngs of british soldiers advancing out of their trenches to the sound of section leaders blowing on these whistles as they charged through mud and barbed wire (Ok - I had also just seen War Horse the movie as well...) Has a very distinctive sound that screams Great Britain. The whistle is well built and a quality product that is nicely finished. I bought one for my wife's key chain, but couldn't bring myself to part with it so I kept it for myself. I guess I need to order another.

Arrived in perfect condition and is well made. Tried out the whistle and it worked perfectly. Yes this is a replica but I never it expected it to be the original product produced for and supplied to the police so, I was not disappointed. It may be a knock-off but it's priced well and it does the job.

Well made Bobby whistle, but too big to carry around on my Keychain. Sent back and ordered the petite size, which is perfect.

If you need to command attention indoors or outdoors without being too annoying, the Acme Metropolitan British Police Whistle (Model 15) is perfect for that. Produces two different tones which combine to make a third “beat” tone, sometimes referred to as a “heterodyne”. The whistle is tuned to make a very distinctive, pleasant sound, unlike most common whistles. Great for getting the attention of noisy children indoors or out. Doesn’t make ears ring afterwards. Easy to articulate multiple or coded bursts with tongue. I haven’t tested for such but probably can be heard long distances outdoors because it sounds different than common noises. I ordered this immediately after a 4.7 earthquake hit - in Oklahoma - while I was working on the 16th floor of an office building. Someone told me anyone who works in a high rise building should always have a whistle on them, because you never know what disaster might hit. I chose this one because it is very attractive and I thought it would make an interesting addition to my badge lanyard. It arrived on time, and in great shape, and it is very attractive. But it is not as loud as I expected it would be. It takes a lot of breath to push out a loud sound. So if you break your ribs in a disaster and you are crawling around in the rubble, trying to help someone find you, this probably isn't the best choice for a whistle. But it is a lovely lanyard accessory! I will probably look for a coach whistle to use for potential disasters.

The din of spirited discussion during a case study in training is music to my ears. It means the participants are involved, energized and learning on their own while I am only showing them the way. The only problem is getting their attention to wrap up the exercise and dissolve the buzz group. Even though I'm told I sound like John Wayne, pilgrim, sometimes the din of voices become the same as a runaway beer wagon, and regaining control requires several waves and yodels. Enter my imitation, genuine, authentic, certified London Bobby Police Whistle, which I thought would alert my classes that there had been another Jack the Ripper murder and would be poorly received, wasn't. It actually worked for the first time yesterday and today. It wasn't so loud that they had to cover their ears, but it was loud enough to regain their attention without recurring screams. The whistle worked like a charm, and I highly recommend it for training.

Truly authentic sound of the British Bobby whistle. My husband and I keep one each when we are in the woods hunting and fishing. It can be heard quite a ways and is a very distinctive sound, Use this is one of us needs help etc (and often can not get cell phone bars). Also we have a mini dachshund and when we use this whistle for her when we are out in the woods she knows to come back immediately (and at home if she is out in the back yard and hears the whistle she knows to come immediately for a treat). Love the sound, made very well, shipping was fast. Love it.

Nice weight/quality whistle. As whistles go, it also has a nice tone and is loud enough to call my dog from a good distance away. I never trained her to come to a whistle, she just does. It is certainly loud enough to use as an emergency alarm as well.

Auqneu no es exactamente como lo esperaba, (esperaba un dorado y con un sonido diferente), no tiene sonido tan agudo como los silbatos nacionales y esta bonito en plata.
