Life in the 1870s Mid West
Life in the Wisconsin woods in the 1870’s is portrayed through the eyes of 4 year old Laura. The roots of the gun toting culture can be seen here. The father shows his 4 year old daughter how to make and load bullets, clean a gun, and go off to the woods to shoot some poor animal for fresh meat. Life esp. for the women was so hard. Everything was homemade – from bread, butter, cheese, maple syrup, meat had to be preserved and kept for the winters. Even little girls had to behave like little ladies helping in all household chores. The Sunday rules for children were so ridiculous! Same goes for the obsession with blonde hair. It’s amusing to note that children got a whipping for the slightest misbehavior (unlike today’s spoilt brats). Girls in those days had only one fine dress to wear on all occasions and were happy to play with corn cobs of a doll, pig bladders (disgusting!), roast pig tails (ugh!!). Illustrations by Garth Williams are beautiful as well as helpful!

Not for me!
Felt like there's no starting or ending. So boring and mundane story I ever read. Maybe a good one, but I completely dislike this one

Chapter Names are missing
I bought this book even though I had one (downloaded from internet), because of the authentic, original content and want to pay respect to the work by purchasing it. However, the Table of Contents is shown as "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc; Whereas in the free downloaded copy it is clearly given as "Little House in the Big Woods", "Winter Days and Winter Nights", etc. Don't you think this is the way it has to be reflected in the original content? Chapters has got beautiful names and what is stopping it to reflect in the kindle book?

Vale o investimento!

A wonderful story of a loving family
This book is so great to read with my daughter. It is fun to hear about life back in the 1800's in Wisconsin, USA. It is interesting to read about how they made maple syrup, butter, and lots of other foods that we take for granted. It's a heart-warming story about a family and the love they have for each other.

Kindle
Little House in the Big Woods: Little House on the Prairie #1 (English Edition) Little House in the Big Woods (Little House on the Prairie Book 1) (English Edition) Little House in the Big Woods (Little House on the Prairie Book 1) (English Edition)
