My favorite by far!
I've only had this pencil sharpener for a week, so I hope this thing lasts! I liked it so much I recommended it to my child's school teachers. What I love about this pencil sharpener: 1. It's a good size. Small enough to fit in my supply drawer, but big enough it won't easily get lost. 2. It's closes when not in use, but is easy to open so keeps working area clean, and is easy to empty. 3. Shavings are minimal! So you can sharpen A LOT of pencils to a very sharp tip without having to empty it fifteen times! 4. It has holes for standard pencil, larger pencils like Dixon Tri-Conderoga Triangular #2 Pencils, Wood-Cased, Black, Pack of 12 (22500) larger triangular pencils AND for colored pencils! ***5. The blades are sharp enough to sharpen pencils in several seconds each (pencils that haven't been previously sharpened take longer) & with minimal effort! My four year old can sharpen a whole box of 12 colored pencils like LYRA Waldorf Selection Unlacquered Triangular Giant Colored Pencils, Set of 12 Super Ferby (3711121) in 5-7 minutes! 6. They don't break my colored pencil lead as easily as other sharpeners! Update: One drawback, the hinge breaks easily, so it’s hard to keep the two sides (one built for oversized & irregular pencils, the other for colored pencils) together :(. But they are still functional &!very good at sharpening pencils!

If you're an artist, you need this. It's a 3 in 1
Hands down the best sharpener I have ever bought for my colored pencils. I use prismas, and Derwent intense. You know how finicky trying to make sure you have a sharp point without breakage. This is great. It has a spot on one side for pencils, then one for colored pencils, and different hexagonal shapes of some of the higher end colored pencils. It gave me a super sharp point without sounding like it was eating my pencil. I have several others that like to eat the pencils, and make the whole center core fall out. Not this. I don't know where this has been my whole coloring life. I'll be buying another one for back up. Saved my coloring.

Works perfectly, recommend to any artist!
I recommend this simple sharpener to any fellow artist, it works wonderfully with my Faber Castell polychromos/aquarelle as well as my Prismacolors! Super sharp points with minimal led breakage. Always can rely on Faber Castell’s quality, I just wish it was a metal case instead plastic but that’s no big deal.

Favorite sharpener for drawing and colored pencils
This sharpener was recommended to me while I was taking drawing and sequential art classes at art school. The one I bought then has lasted for at least 8 years and still works great. The plastic hinge eventually wore out over years of daily use, but the two compartments still lock closed, and it still sharpens very well. Now I have two - one for home and one for travel. It works well for a variety of pencils, charcoal pencils, and colored pencils. I use it most often to sharpen Prismacolor pencils with good results. Easy to use, and easy to clean out - just open the compartments where indicated and empty them. Sometimes pencil leads can break and get stuck, especially if the lead is fragile and the pencil has been dropped. But the design makes the pieces pretty easy to get out. This sharpener is the least wasteful one I have used, too - it seems consistently smooth. I love this sharpener and use it all the time.

Sharpens Well, But Capacity is Not as Great as It Appears to Be ...
All in one not-so-compact unit, the “Faber-Castell Trio Sharpener” gives you the ability to sharpen three different types of pencil. One side of the plastic trio sharpener holds a standard rectangular duo sharpener – one side for regular pencils and one side for “fat” pencils. The other side is made to sharpen Faber-Castell’s triangular colored pencils. All three options sharpen well – at least when new – and there are no “shrinking” pencils as can happen when using an electric sharpener. The shavings from the pencils fall into an equilateral triangle-shaped container that is about one inch high and about 1 ½” on each of the three sides. The height of the entire unit is about 2 ½”. The sharpener for triangular pencils – measuring about 1” high X 1” wide X ½” deep - takes up a significant amount of space inside the container so that it does not hold the amount of shavings you initially think it will. The dual sharpener measures about 1” high X 1 1/8” wide X ½” deep – leaving little room for shavings. Other than the sharpener made specifically for Faber-Castell triangular colored pencils, the “Faber-Castell Trio Sharpener” is nothing special. The dual sharpener is like those you can find in any office supply store. The entire unit is plastic and when attempting to open it, the shavings’ container often “popped” off, scattering debris everywhere. Had I seen this unit prior to purchasing it and although I do like its ability to sharpen three different types of pencil, I probably would not have purchased it.

Best pencil sharpener ever!
I have an electric sharpener. It works great on only certain pencils. I have tried about 4 other types, and none will sharpen my Polychromos pencils. This one has three different size openings. IT does a great job on the polys, the charcoal, and everything else I have tried. I have now retired all my other sharpeners. My opinion, I would have paid a lot more for this sharpener.

Would highly recommend this sharpener over any other
This sharpener is great! Sharpens pencils fluidly and has become my favorite pencil sharpener. I also have another well known brand pencil sharpener and very much prefer using this one. I use this for my FC and prismacolors as well as for my kids' budget colored pencils and it performs excellent on all of them. It is well made, good feel in your hands. Not too large (about 2 1/2 inches tall), is triangular, and is comfortable to hold. It sharpens pencils without taking too much off so you get the most out of your pencils. There are 3 holes made up of 1 for thicker pencils, one for regular pencils and another for coloured pencils. I typically use the regular smaller hole to sharpen then follow up using the coloured pencil hole to get a very pointy lead. For some reason this works great without taking off too much of the pencil. I use my FC daily and some pencils more than others and all my pencils look almost the same length. Would highly recommend this sharpener over any other.

A versatile 3-in-1 pencil sharpener
A great flexible sharpener with three different cutting profiles for different pencil and lead types. See the photo for a comparison of the angle and length on different pencils; Staedtler Noris-Maxi (Jumbo), Staedtler Mars Lumochrom (Graphite), and Staedtler Aquarell (Colour). The sharpener cuts smoothly with easy pencil rotation, resulting in a very pointy point if required. Has decent sized receptacles for the shavings while still fitting ergonomically in my large hand. Has a small interlocking lip to seal in any stray shavings when closed — presumably to minimise mess in a pencil case. Stainless steel blades made in Germany, secured with tri-wing screws. Decent quality plastics overall, although I’m not sure how the hinge will hold up over time. Comes as is, and does not include any additional packaging or instructions. Overall a very good quality pencil sharpener for the price.

Easy to use, Effective.
Really sharp and consistent. Love the 3 holes concept and the clearing out of debris is just a joy. Easily the best hand held sharpener any student or artist can own.
