Best kettle I've ever owned!
absolutely love this kettle, and not just cuz it looks cool! The handle is actually comfortable! The popular cork handles of othe models make my jacked up shoulder worse, but not this kettle! The pouring action is very smooth, and easy on my arm. The heating action is FAST, easily the fastest working kettle I've ever owned. It's so easy to use right out of the box, the buttons and functions are very intuitive, I could tell what to do just by looking at the display, before I'd even opened the instructions. (Which I *did* read, but apparently didn't need to.) It's also the quietest kettle over ever owned I really didn't realize how loud my old kettle was till I heard this one going. It's whisper quiet in comparison!! My only room to kvetch is I wish it held more water, but I don't actually *need* bigger, the capacity on this one is perfectly fine. I'm very pleased with this kettle!

Returning
I was hopeful that this KRUPS kettle would be good and would last longer than any of the other half dozen I have purchased in the last decade. I'm convinced none are manufactured these days to last more than a year or two. If you're lucky. Upon receiving it, I immediately filled it to learn its features and to see how it worked. I was immediately disappointed (and a bit angry) to see that the handle was secured to the inside of the kettle by a large black piece of hard plastic. Yes, this plastic piece is above the waterline, however, the steam from heated water wets the plastic, and that moisture drips back down. Not good. That alone was a deal killer for me. I do NOT want any plastic inside a kettle that heats water. I would NOT have purchased the kettle had they shown the plastic inside of the otherwise stainless steel interior, or mentioned it in their description. I continued with the testing of the features. After several attempts at heating the water to 212 F degrees, the water never heated above 208 F degrees. It looked like it was boiling, but it never reached the 212-F point although the base indicated it had reached boiling point. I have an instant-read Thermoworks Thermapen and I have never had a reason to suspect it is not accurate. The next problem was with the 'stay-warm' setting. The kettle doesn't maintain the temperature automatically as stated in the manual. You have to play around with the button, and even then, I discovered the water temperature kept decreasing. It stayed at 205-F for a while (the manual states that is the highest degree it will stay warm at), but after a few minutes, the temperature began to decrease. There is nothing "easy-to-use" about this digital kettle's base or the instructions on how to set the stay-warm feature. It is difficult to see if the stay-warm light is on or not, or what it means when it is 'blinking.' I found both the base and the manual's instructions confusing and I'm not a luddite when it comes to electronics. When you lift the kettle off the base and then return it, you have to press the stay-warm feature again and hope it works (it didn't). But if it did, you'd still have to remember to push that button every time you lift to pour and return the kettle to the base. The black metal of the kettle is pleasing and the kettle is a good size -- a full liter. The base is shiny plastic which will easily scratch and show those scratches. Plus it doesn't match the kettle's matte finish. Odd decision there. The gooseneck spout is well-positioned and pours smoothly at a good speed. However, it took me less than an hour of testing to decide to return this kettle. I cannot recommend it.

Very happy with it.=
I first tried another, less expensive model. It was too small. It was too slow, and did not have the features of this one, such as water temperature selection and keep warm.

Noisy. Much too noisy
Yes, I am stopping to write a review of this bossy kettle. I bought it for its looks and namebrand. And that’s what the two stars are for. But using this is a pretty unfortunate morning experience. First of all, I have to push buttons. I have to push all the buttons. Every time you pick it up, every time you put it down, you push a button. And as others have mentioned, it is not exactly intuitive. I read the manual. I read the manual again. I have to remember every morning pre-Coffee how to make this little thing function to its job. I prefer a set it and forget it situation. Then there is all the infernal noise. It beeps every time you touch a button. It beeps when you pick it up. It beeps when you put it on the cradle. It beeps when it’s telling you it’s getting ready to finish this job. 5 times. It’s so incredibly annoying. It takes me just under five minutes to make coffee in the morning, and this thing beeps at least 15 times. There’s no way to turn the beeping off and I’ve started to realize it’s driving me crazy. It’s more annoying than my cat threading between my legs asking for seconds and thirds while I’m trying to make the coffee, listening to this stupid thing beep and beep and beep. If you like a bit of peace and quiet in the morning, move on and look for another, quiet, hot water warming contraption. Sure, it boils water (as long as you remind it to when you turn it on every morning), but It shouldn’t be so noisy while it’s doing it.

Very noisy kettle.
This Krups Gooseneck Electric Kettle has a nice look and heats up pretty quickly, but it's very loud and makes a noise as the train is coming. Also, the lid is so tight that you need to hold the kettles handle in order to lift it. I think I will be returning it as I am not fully satisfied with the way it works.
