Question 1

What's the difference between raw and regular honey?

Accepted Answer

Raw honey is minimally processed, keeping its natural cloudy appearance and elements from the hive. Regular honey is pasteurized and filtered, giving it a clear look but removing original compounds from the honey.

Question 2

How long does raw honey last?

Accepted Answer

When stored in an airtight container at room temperature away from sunlight, honey lasts indefinitely. This preservation comes from its low moisture content. Keep it sealed and protected from moisture for best results.

Question 3

Is it bad if my honey crystallizes?

Accepted Answer

Actually, crystallization is a sign of pure, high-quality honey! It's completely natural and shows your honey hasn't been over-processed. Simply warm gently to return to liquid form if desired.

Question 4

What's the best way to store raw honey?

Accepted Answer

Store in airtight containers at room temperature, away from sunlight and heat. Glass or food-grade plastic works best. Avoid refrigeration as it speeds crystallization. Keep containers clean and dry before use.

Question 5

How can you tell if honey is truly raw?

Accepted Answer

Look for natural cloudiness and a rich, complex taste. Check labels to ensure "honey" is the only ingredient. Raw honey typically shows particle settling and crystallizes faster than processed varieties.

Question 6

Why does my honey jar say both 12 oz and 16 oz?

Accepted Answer

The 12 oz is fluid volume (1.5 cups), while 16 oz is weight (1 pound). Honey is denser than water, so a smaller volume weighs more.

Question 7

Why is honey measured differently than water?

Accepted Answer

Honey is denser than water, so 12 fluid ounces of honey weighs 16 ounces (1 pound), while the same volume of water weighs 12 ounces.

Question 8

How many cups of honey are in each jar?

Accepted Answer

Our jar is 12 fluid ounces. Since 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces, we divide 12 by 8: 12 ÷ 8 = 1.5 cups. So each jar contains one and a half cups of honey which equals 12 ounces.

Question 9

Why does my honey look grainy and sugary?

Accepted Answer

Honey crystallizes when natural glucose separates and forms crystals. This graininess is a sign of pure honey, not added sugar. It's completely normal, safe to eat, and indicates quality rather than added sugar.
